Thread: '15 GML Discussion

Also, I see some people using only the top 51, and rollover money along with existing dead money. While I'm amazed and greatly appreciative of that, we don't go to that length due to the learning curve of the game. It was tried last year, and... it didn't exactly go swimmingly. Perhaps in the future with enough people playing continually who grasp it that will happen.

Probably not the top 51 rule though because then people will hoard players.

    Wait, so every contract counts?

How do the cap heavy teams ever make the salary cap?

cuts and trades, especially the modified June 1 (halves dead money as opposed to the real life equivalent) along with the fact real life restructures are honored. That was added so teams with lots of cap space could "gamble" that a player will wind up lowering his salary and thus cap hit and they could get the guy on the cheap, while also aiding cap strapped teams in getting out from under bad situations. Last year's Cowboys team was one of the worst situations and they turned out okay.

So during the off season all your contracted players count vs the cap? When will the final cap number be released?

Being the Broncos, I was really hoping for the extra $6 million carryover, but I'm ok with it.

There's no set time, but the initial number will be posted well before teams have to become cap compliant. 140MM would be a safe estimate though.

Just a reminder, please do not include cuts in your team page until Wednesday at 12:00 AM ET. I'll look over what everyone has and make everything is correct this afternoon.

Only the 51 highest players on the offseason roster cost against cap. We don't do it, since we run an offseason-only league.

Its complicated, however its not part of this Sim league. OverTheCap.com has a great explanation of how the NFL Salary cap works. But know that this sim league varies from the official NFL rules.

    Re: '15 GML Discussion

if we get a full on sim league in the future or hardcore capoligists, we'd definitely do that, and I'd do the offseason roster limit too.

I added C Roberto Garza 1,450,000 (100,000) to my Bears as he wasn't on roster or FAs. These numbers are legit but i will change if anyone knows different.

    Re: '15 GML Discussion

I picked up this from Roto:
    2015: $970,000 (+ $25,000 workout bonus + $140,000 in per-game roster bonuses)

Which if I recall right puts him at 2,675,000 (he only played in 12 games last year, and per game roster bonuses function as incentives, so the other 4 are NLTBE and thus don't count.) but if my memory is faulty, which it can be and I'm too lazy to pull up the CBA, let me know. I'd love to see where you got those numbers though for my own reference.

    Re: '15 GML Discussion

and scratch part of that, the 140,000 is total, not each game.

    Found this:

Garza’s contract for 2014 also was worth
$1.5 million and was structured similarly.
The difference this time is the playing-
time incentive (in 2014, he had more money
tied up in weekly roster bonuses).
    Here is the contract breakdown:
    $75,000 signing bonus (fully guaranteed)
    $25,000 workout bonus
    $970,000 base salary
    $140,000 game-day roster bonuses ($8,750
    each game)
    $290,000 playing-time incentive

So 75,000/2 (as it happened early enough in 14) 37,500 (guaranteed, the other half hits 2014)
    25,000 (not guaranteed)
    970,000 (not guaranteed)
105,000 in LTBE (counts, not guaranteed)
35,000 in NLTBE (doesn't count, not guaranteed)
290,000 in NLTBE (doesn't count, not guaranteed)

so that makes it 1,137,500/37,500 if I did things right.
