    Final Voting

I will try to get more details up for things like best trade or FA steal (or Witlon will do it. Actually, yeah, Witlon, you do it.) when I have time. But for now: here are the criteria for voting again in post 1: http://www.baseballslant.com/forums/...minations.html

Welcome to the Final Voting period. GMs will give their top three (in order) for GM of the Year. A first place vote for GM of the Year is worth three points, a second place vote for GM of the Year is worth two points, and a third place vote for GM of the Year is worth one point. You cannot vote for your own team for GM of the Year. You can place ONE vote for each 'Best Of' category and you may NOT vote for yourself if your team/player is one of the finalists. You may include a brief write-up to justify your choices for GM of the Year as well the 'Best Of' categories. I'll announce winners at some point. I will not vote in the interest of fairness unless I need to break ties.

    Re: Final Voting

    GM of the Year
1.Packers- When your nominated for top 5 offense and defense you put together a solid team.
2.Browns-Love what he did with this team. The only thing im not crazy about is Bradford.
3.Patriots-Gave Brady weapons on offense that could easily put the Pats back in the Super Bowl

    Rookie GM of the Year
1.Bills-Did a great job all the way around. And improved a buffalo team that hasnt been shit since Jim Kelly
2.Panthers-Pulled off robbery for Peterson and Allen, But having only one QB kept me from voting you 1st
3.Giants-Got off to a rough start, but overall did a great job with there final product.

    Team Built for now
1.Browns- Adding guys like AP and Andre Johnson show that the Browns are ready to win now!

    Team on the Rise
1.Houston- Took over a 2-14 Team and made it a possible contender.

    Team most improved
1.Jags- If Kirk Cousins can be the Guy, then this is a team to look out for.

    Best in Trades
1.Patriots- Got Fitz for a bag of chips...

    Trade Steal of the Year
1.Jason Witten-Packers- Clearing cap or not, this trade was shit. Hats off to the Packers

    Trade of the Year
1.Philly-Miami- To many pieces involved not to be.

    Best in FA
1.Philly- Used all that cap wisely and got impact guys.

    FA Steal of the year
1.Dwight Freeney-Browns $495,000- i also liked DRC here, but Freeney for $495,000?! Steal

    Best in Draft
1.Titans- every team nominated had a great draft, but i personally like all the weapons he added.

    Draft Steal of the Year
1.Ja'Waun James-Titans. Based simply on where he was actually taken.

    Best Offense
1.Packers- Liked the browns O as well, but when you give Rodgers Cobb,White,Lee, and Witten thats Scary

    Best Defense
1.Philly- Solid from the trenches to the secondary.

    Best Special Teams
    1.Rams- Job well done sir.

    GM of the Year:
    1. Cleveland (305)
    2. New England (Griddles)
    3. Green Bay (ucfin)

    Rookie GM:
    1. Carolina - Fell off at the end, and the lack of the second QB kept me from putting him on the GM of the year list, but of the choices, he was the best.
    2. Baltimore - Active the entire way, and didn't do a bad job with his team.
    3. NY Giants - Same as Baltimore.

(I thought about what Unibrow did with Denver after the mess the first owner left him with, and the Faclons were a fun team to follow, but I'll go with 3 people that stuck around from the beginning.)

    Thumbs Up Re: Final Voting

    GM of the Year

    1. Cleveland, I think I nominated them for most every category. That's good enough reason.
    2. Green Bay, it's easy to stand ground or screw up a really good team. It's difficult to make a good team better, which they seemingly have done.
    3. Tampa Bay, I think they have a scary defense that reminds you of the Dungy/Gruden teams.

    Rookie GM of the Year

    1. Panthers, weird and chaotic at best but the only negative I saw was trading away Kuechley for minimal value.
    2. Giants, super active and started off with a bad team, made them decent.
    3. Falcons, it may have been quite comical with what they did but let's be honest, Atlanta isn't very good. They killed it in the draft and upgraded at QB for a few years.

    Team Built For Now

Packers, I based this vote on the fact that I don't trust Cleveland or Tampa's QB, and New England is worse than they started. Packers addressed the secondary and got a huge steal in Jurrell Casey for the front line.

    Team on the Rise

Jaguars, they weren't shy about spending money on good player and they did well for themselves in the draft. If this was a sim league, I'd expect them to actually contend for the division.

    Most Improved Team

Browns, this was a tough category cause every team listed did some real work but Cleveland went off. They're a decent QB away from being one of the top contenders.

    Best In Trades

Browns, I had to flip a coin between them and Tampa. Both made multiple blockbusters and acquired studs. Browns with a narrow edge.

    Trade Steal of the Year
Tampa Bay Buccaneers/Carolina Panthers - The Luke Kuechly Trade
TB sends: Doug Martin, Mark Barron, 2-043
CAR sends: Luke Kuechly, Jonathan Stewart

(I picked this one because I view Kuechly as one of the best defensive players period and Tampa did not have to give up any top talent. Plus this pairs Kuechly with David, )

    Trade of the Year

    Houston Texans/Tampa Bay Buccaneers
HOU sends: JJ Watt, Owen Daniels, 2-033, 3-065
TB sends: Johnthan Banks, Adrian Clayborn, Mason Foster, 1-007, 2-038, 3-096

(when the worst part of a trade is a solid TE in Daniels, you know it's epic)

Best In Free Agency (Five notable FAs signed listed)

Eagles (Alterraun Verner, Sam Shields, Branden Albert, Paul Soliai, Mike Mitchell)

(I would have said Jets or Jags, until I see what Philly did and I'm convinced)

Free Agent Steal of the Year

    Perry Riley - $3,900,000, Redskins

    Best In Draft
    Falcons
    1-007 OL Greg Robinson
    1-010 TE Eric Ebron
    1-030 CB Jason Verrett
    2-037 OL Xavier Su'a-Filo
    2-049 SS Jimmie Ward
    3-069 DE Demarcus Lawrence
    3-075 OL Jack Mewhort
    3-082 CB Stanley Jean-Bapitste
    5-135 RB Terrence West
    5-136 FS Ahmad Dixon
    5-141 LB Preston Brown
    5-142 LB Christian Kirksey
    5-144 SS Vinnie Sunseri
    5-149 RB Jerick McKinnon
    5-150 OL Bryan Stork
    5-151 QB Tom Savage
    5-152 CB Antone Exum
    5-156 CB Victor Hampton
    5-157 WR Mike Davis
    6-167 DT Brent Urban
    6-178 RB James White
    6-179 WR Kevin Norwood
    7-196 TE AC Leonard
    7-210 TE Jacob Pederson

(Atlanta had the most picks so they also had the most chances to suck in the draft, yet they racked up a lot of steals and good looking players. I think their first round picks were spot on and then they landed steals in Ward, Lawrence, Kirksey, Norwood, McKinnon, Savage, West, and even though he wasn't drafted in real life, I think Mike Davis is going to prove to be a huge UDFA steal)

    Draft Steal of the Year

Weston Richburg, Raiders (GML: 4-103 | NFL: 2-043)

(I don't think Smith or James will be that good, so this was between Richburg and Beckham. I think Richburg is going to be great, so landing a great player in round 4 is pretty smooth)

    Best Offense
    Packers
QB Aaron Rodgers, RB Eddie Lacy, FB John Kuhn
WR Randall Cobb, WR Roddy White, WR Marqise Lee, TE Jason Witten
LT Taylor Lewan, LG Josh Sitton, C Davis Baas, RG Chad Rinehart, RT Bryan Bulaga
(They have the QB, they added Lewan to the line, and Lee as the #3 could be like Cobb has been previously. Carolina was close but I don't trust Martin coming back from injury, Blackmon isn't playing, and I dunno about the line.)

    Best Defense

    Buccaneers
DE Jared Allen, DT Gerald McCoy, DT Ndamukon Suh, DE JJ Watt
OLB Lavonte Davis, MLB Luke Kuechly, OLB Dekota Watson
CB Darrelle Revis, CB Charles Tillman, FS Ryan Clark, SS Shamarko Thomas

(That front seven is frightening. I worry about their safeties, as they don't cover much but they'll hit and tackle like crazy folk. I had the Jets second, only because I like their secondary a lot less but they have a dynamic front line as well)
    Marshall: MILSWANCAs?
    Ted
: Wait, I can get this. Mothers I'd like to sleep with and never call again.
    Barney: Circle gets the square!

    GM of the Year
    1. Jacksonville Jaguars
    2. New England Patriots
    3. Cleveland Browns
Really like the plan that the Jags took. Probably started off with a bottom 3 roster talent wise and really upgraded the team. Patriots are just strong in every aspect of the league. Wish they upgraded WR more, but like the OL upgrades and defense upgrades. Cleveland started off with alot of assets and made the most out of each one. Did a great overall job, but the lack of team depth knocks them down to 3rd for me.

Very active (and persistent to a fault), but felt they did a good job. Buffalo, Baltimore, NYG were close runner-ups
    Team Built for Now
    Cleveland Browns
Best starting lineup and are super bowl contenders if they stay healthy
    Team on the Rise
    Buffalo Bills
Really like all the young pieces and I'm biased towards their new QB
    Most Improved
    Jacksonville Jaguars
Did a great job in all aspects (Draft, Trades, FA). Had a plan and really improved the Jaguars, who would likely make the playoffs this season
    Best in Trades
    New England Patriots
    Just wins every trade
    Trade Steal
    Panthers/Chargers - Godfrey/Allen
    Worst.Trade.Ever
    Trade of the Year
    Dolphins/Eagles - Jordan/Peters
I did a very similar trade at TP, just like this trade
    Best in Free Agency
    Philadelphia Eagles
Close between Jags and Eagles. Both had ample space but used it to add difference makers
    Free Agent Steal
    Perry Riley - Redskins

    Best in Draft
    Oakland Raiders

    Draft Steal
    Ju'Wuan James - Titans

    Best Offense
    Cleveland Browns
Have the best starting group, think that my Packers are deeper.
    Best Defense
    Philadelphia Eagles
Wanted to go with Buccs because of the front 7, but I don't like the safety combo and feel that Philly is more well rounded
    Best Special Teams
    Minnesota Vikings

    Best GM:
    1. packers
    2. bucs
    3. browns

    Rookie GM:
    1. panthers
    2. giants
    3. ravens

    Team Built For Now
seahawks, with the packers a close 2nd. the hawks really didnt do much to hurt the super bowl champs. packers upgraded well, tough decision, but the seahawks werent a team that needed to go crazy, and they didnt, so ill go with them.

    Team on the Rise
well the eagles made the playoffs last year, and i expect foles to regress... so i guess the texans? texans definitely improved a 2 win team. jags got a nice team too, i think they have a couple more holes though, and an equally unproven qb.

    Most Improved Team
bucs, they didnt even do that bad putting together an offense, in addition to their d... though with mike vick at qb, its tough to expect much. unfortunately, the other 4 teams here also sport shitty quarterbacks.

    Best In Trades
    bucs... suh, watt and kuechly.

    Trade Steal of the Year
id probably lean the allen/godfrey deal. at least in the kuechly deal, he got martin back... its wasnt an even deal, but it wasnt as lopsided as godfrey for allen. the gordon deal didnt seem so awful until gordon got suspended for[ever] the year.

    Trade of the Year
in terms of equal footing for both sides... houston and cleveland, andre for haden.

Best In Free Agency (Five notable FAs signed listed)
the jets, you can all eat my ass. but of that group, the eagles win. jags had a great class, but two of them they gained because mach is a fucking tool who cut two solid players late in free agency after everyone but the jags spent most of their money, so they could overspend.

Free Agent Steal of the Year
based on what they did only in 2013... hatcher was severely underrated. i dont really think much of him for the future, hes old and doesnt have ware on the other side anymore, but its kinda hard to go back and regrade this later on, so ill give it to hatcher.

    Best In Draft
falcons. pretty much a no brainer.

    Draft Steal of the Year
bucannon barely over richburg. beckham was a late riser, after we ran our draft... if we ran our draft later, beckham probably wouldve gone top 15. james and smith were overdrafted in real life, you dont get credit for that.

    Best Offense
packers. i cant in good conscience vote for a team that sports sam badford or matt stafford at qb. the panthers are tough, but blackmon may never play in the nfl again. i dont like the pats skill positions as much as the packers, although roddy white is slow as hell and im not sure anyone realizes it yet.

    Best Defense
bucs, that front 7 is stupid, even with a weak spot in dekoda watson. their safeties are very succeptible, but thats the only place id give the eagles the edge.

    Best Special Teams
vikings barely over the rams... both have really good units, i barely like walsh and cordarrelle more than legatron and austin, even though hekker is the best punter in the game.

ill do gm of the year, and rookie of the year later.

    Re: Final Voting

Only thing I feel comfortable in giving an opinion on that makes sense is Trade Steal of the Year.

Larry Fitzgerald to NE for Garbage. You are talking about a top 5 wide receiver in the game right now for a 3rd... someone should have been FIRED immediately! I don't care what else followed there is NO WAY ANY franchise can better themselves by trading a pro bowler like Fitzgerald and end up being better for it.
