Please post up to three nominations for the following categories. YES, You CAN nominate someone that has already been nominated. I will use my best judgment to come up with five finalists for each category (except Rookie GM of the Year, all rookie GMs will be deemed finalists). Because I will be the final decision on the finalists, I won't nominate anyone unless it is solely to get us up to 5 nominations. You cannot nominate yourself.
DO NOT NOMINATE NOW. ALL ARE ELIGIBLE. THIS IS FOR YOUR KNOWLEDGE. GM of the Year:
This award is for the GM who did the most to improve their team via Trades, FA, and the Draft. A team that has a great mix of veteran talent and youth and depth. Not necessarily the best team, but the GM who made the best overall moves with their team and maximized their assets.
DO NOT NOMINATE NOW. ALL ARE ELIGIBLE. THIS IS FOR YOUR KNOWLEDGE. Rookie of the Year:
This award is for the GM who did the best amongst their fellow 1st year peers.
Team built for now:
This award is for the GM who has built a team with the goal being to win a Super Bowl in the very near future. This team has top tier players starting with fantastic depth to cover injuries.
Team on the rise:
This award is for the GM who has built a team with an eye towards the future. They may not be ready to compete right away but they have built a solid youthful foundation to contend for many years very soon.
Most improved team:
This award is for the GM who took their team and made it far better than before. They may not be ready to run through the playoffs, and they may not be set up long term with youth, but the roster is definitely better than before.
Best in trades:
This award is for the GM who generally won most of their trades and bettered their team.
Trade steal of the year:
This award goes to the GM who pulled off a veritable heist in making a specific deal.
Trade of the year:
The biggest trade of the season, whether it was even or not, all that matters is that it was notable and involved a lot of talent.
Best in FA:
This award is for the GM who generally did the best in signing F.A.s to help their team. Not necessarily the wildest spenders who just threw money at everyone, but also shrewd under the radar signings that have a huge impact. UDFAs signed fall under this category.
FA steal of the year:
This award goes to the GM who either nabbed someone who signed for far more in real life or signed someone who went for far less than you think they should have.
Best in Draft:
This award is for the GM who made the best picks in the draft between getting top talent, top value, and filling needs
Draft steal of the year:
This award goes to the GM who nabbed a player far later than they went in real life or the GM who nabbed a player who went far later than you felt they should have.
Best offence:
This award is for the GM who cobbled together the best talent and depth for their offencive unit
Best defence:
This award is for the GM who cobbled together the best talent and depth for their offencive unit.
Best special teams:
This award is for the GM who cobbled together the best talent and depth for their special teams unit. It's the schisno memorial award.
Do Not Nominate, I will list all rookie GM's Rookie GM of the Year (only first year GMs are eligible)
Nominations end whenever the hell I get around to it.
If a player/team that you wish to nominate has already been nominated... please nominate that team/player again. I will cut the finalists down to five and if a team/player has multiple nominations, it will be easier to whittle down to five.
for sake of clarity:
GMotY: Frex if someone takes the defending SB champs, makes some moves to clear out overpaid crap and sign key FAs for cheap, it may not be a drastic upgrade, but they clearly showed amazing judgement.
Team on the rise: A team that has a lot of promising though untested youth. They look like they'll be good in a few years, but as for now, only show promise and potential.
Most improved: Someone who took a 2 win team and made them roughly an 8 win team on paper or so.
