Buffalo went into the draft with little buzz and kept all his rankings in house to prevent leaks, while annoying to pre-draft analyst Witlon, it ensured that we could get the guys we wanted

Buffalo went into this draft promising to take the BPA no matter position and it led to a few interesting picks

009 - QB Blake Bortles UCF

Player 1B on our draft board (Clowney 1A), we like his toughness and ability to drive the football down the field. He played well vs top SEC competition (South Carolina) despite not having an all-star cast around him. He will be a franchise quarterback. The decision was tough having drafted EJ Manuel in the first round last year but when you can get a franchise QB at pick #9 you can't say no.

041 - DE Dee Ford Auburn

We came into the draft hoping to find an OT to play on the other side of Cordy Glenn and fully planned on taking one with one of our first 3 picks but ran into a dilemma here early in round 2. We had 3 players with 1st round grades left. DE Dee Ford who we had at #19 on our board, LB Jeremiah Attaochu who we had at # 24 on our board and OT Morgan Moses at #26. There was a lot of debate in the draft room as to what to do. There were members of the scouting department who had Moses as a top 10-15 player overall and were pounding on the table for him, according to a source inside the Bills. However, GM Kaltenbach wasn't sure and insisted on staying true to the board which had Ford ahead of Attachu and Moses. He's an elite hybrid DE that can attack the QB opposite Mario Williams/Julius Peppers, these 3 rushers will put all sorts of pressure on opposing QB's

045 - LB Jeremiah Attaochu Georgia Tech

Members in the draft room were praying Attaochu would get picked in 42-44 so that GM Kaltenbach would have no choice but to take Moses but with Attaochu on the board, Kaltenbach wouldn't budge and took the versatile LB.
Attaochu, set the Georgia Tech all-time record for career sacks (31.5) and continues to be one of the more underrated prospects in this class. He's extremely active, using his athleticism, motor and heady instincts to win off the edge, collapse inside or find the quarterback whichever way possible

073 - CB Bashaud Breeland Clemson

Tough to find good 5' 11" corners late in Day 2 of the draft, but did when Breeland fell inexplicably. Breeland played good competition in the ACC.
Breeland in 2013 as a junior with personal-bests across the board, including tackles (74), tackles for loss (5.0), passes defended (17) and interceptions (4), earning Second Team All-ACC honors. He'll be in the nickel CB competition in camp
105 - DT Zach Kerr Delaware

The first wtf pick from Buffalo according to some draft experts was Zach Kerr from Delaware. The Maryland transfer exploded in the CAA recording
career-bests in 2013 with 57 tackles, 5.5 tackles for loss, 3.5 sacks and two forced fumbles, earning First Team All-CAA honors. Kerr is built well for the position with the natural power to match. He'll be a perfect run stopper in Buffalo's 3-4 defense, with pass rushing around him he won't have to do too much
143 - WR Shaquelle Evans UCLA

6' 2" receiver for UCLA after transfering from Notre Dame, has lots of ability but didn't put it all together at UCLA, but still was All-Pac 12 honorable mention 2 years in a row. Will come into Buffalo fighting for the slot receiver job. Matches up well in this division with a lack of tall corners to defend him
168 - WR Jalen Saunders Oklahoma

Smaller WR that will be fighting for slot time. Light on his feet with a fluid stride. Good balance and body control. Nifty, conscientious route runner. Has speed and twitch to separate vs. man coverage -- sinks his hips with ease and pops out of breaks. Quick, soft hands. Slippery after the catch. Eludes the first tackler and can turn a short throw into a long gain if he gets a step. Three punt-return TDs in 25 returns at OU -- eludes the first wave, runs to daylight and can take it the distance. Injury risk but would have been a 3rd round talent without those questions.

169 - CB Nevin Lawson Utah State

Steal of the draft, Lawson is the same CB as Vernett except without the name recognition, played super well for Utah State over 4 years. Will come into Buffalo immediately and contribute as the nickel corner. Should have been a 2nd-3rd round pick

201- LB Howard Jones Shepard

Physical tackler and strikes with purpose through his target. NFL motor and effort with a developed work ethic added 50 pounds during his time in college. Confident, tough and durable. Mature and the consummate teammate. Consistent and above average production the last four years, leaving college with 71.0 tackles for loss, 8 forced fumbles, 4 blocked kicks and a school-record 34.5 sacks, was a finalist for Cliff Harris Award in 2013 (top small college defender) 4th-5th round talent we got in Round 7

Overall: B+, didn't draft for need and got solid value but there are still needs that need to be addressed before the 1st game of the season
