That's...generally how it is with just about every mock draft contest that awards points for trades, otherwise you could have every team trading but taking the guy you think and pick up free points.

The whole point of making the best possible system in anything is to minimize the ability to abuse it, especially in such a big way as that.

Would you rather everyone just be on equal ground or have someone win only being penalized by "shame" on the internet?

And it's not very harsh to be forced to guess both partners of a trade when one partner is a given so long as there is a trade.

Another idea would be to add a penalty (perhaps not as high as the awarded points) if a trade is predicted but doesn't happen.
