You''ll never see anyone who's 8-8 or worse ever win the Super Bowl either, so allowing an 8-8 Chargers team in the playoffs over an 11-5 Patriots team is kinda ridiculous.

Once upon a time people said you'd never see another 16-0 team...then when that happened those same people said nobody would beat that team in the Super Bowl, but they were wrong about that as well.
Look, considering how often 8-8 teams make the playoffs (not very often) the odds are in your favor that it won't happen, but that doesn't mean it can't happen or that it won't. But since they hardly ever make it it's a statistical probability that it won't ever happen.
At the end of the day this debate should boil down to the merits of having divisions, but so long as divisions exist winning it should count for something, otherwise it's just pointless to even have them.

The worst team in the AFC East has Ryan Tannehill at quarterback. There are people who would take that guy over every single quarterback in the AFC South, me included even with the fact that he probably has the worst deep ball in the NFL. You want it to count for something, but when all you're beating is Matt Hasselbeck, Blake Bortles, and a Rookie Marcus Mariota it doesn't really count for anything at all, but a free gift to the playoffs that is undeserved.

Why are you comparing quarterbacks? This isn't the Punt, Pass, and Kick competition.
I mean, if we're going to focus solely on the QB then the Jets really shouldn't have been in the playoffs this year and we've been arguing over nothing.
But that's much ado about nothing. This isn't college football. I don't care where you'd put Miami in your power rankings relative to other divisions, at the end of the day you have to win games on the field to win your division and/or make the playoffs.

If we focus solely on quarterbacks neither will Brock Osweiler, Teddy Bridgewater, Brian Hoyer, and AJ McCarron will be in the playoffs. The whole point of this entire discussion is that it's pointless to put teams with worse records in playoffs over teams with better records, because they're clearly not better teams.
This isn't just about the Jets getting screwed anymore, because of the division format. This is about every single team that has been screwed over this stupid format.

Brock Osweiler and AJ McCarron were not their respective teams' starting QBs entering the season, one of them isn't even going to be starting in his team's playoff game.
Bridgewater is a good QB. Hoyer sucks.
Anyway, you're the one who wanted to randomly compare the QBs.
As for the format, you have yet to actually propose a system that makes better sense, short of saying you wouldn't mind the no-division one I've scoffed at.

I've purposed one. 7 teams in the playoffs in each conference. Only the first seed gets a bye week so you can really get something for being the best team. 2 faces the 7 seed, 3/6, and 4/5. I think that's fair enough just so a 10-6 or 11-5 team will never be left out of the playoffs because they're not in a crappy division.

But division winners still get in? That wouldn't really eliminate your issue, it'd just mitigate it some.
But, to be fair, it'd have only been once in the past 10 years (The 7-9 Seahawks would have still been in over the 10-6 Buccaneers in 2010)
But, meanwhile, teams that'd have been in in those same seasons with 7 teams per league instead of 6 had the following records.
10-6
8-8
9-7
10-6
8-8
10-6
8-8
10-6
9-7
8-8
9-7
10-6
9-7
9-7
9-7
11-5
8-8
10-6
8-8
9-7
So, it seems to me you're allowing in more 8-8 teams who "we'll never see a Super Bowl" in just to mitigate these occasions where the 10 win team is left out.
I'm not saying that's a definitive argument against a 14 team playoff pool, I'm just saying that's what you're getting with it.
