Peter King just reported that if the Vikings traded for Jackson today, he'd be out for 4 games starting this week.

I'm not finding anything about an official deal being done on any sports site.
As for the suspension....
Vincent Jackson, San Diego Chargers, NFL - CBSSports.com Football
So the deal has to get done by tomorrow or it goes back to being fully enforced.V-Jax could return Week 5: The NFL announced Thursday that Chargers WR Vincent Jackson's suspension will be reduced from six games to four games if he is traded to another team. San Diego has between Friday afternoon and Wednesday afternoon to trade Jackson, and if they don't trade him by then he'll remain committed to finishing both his three-game suspension for violating the NFL's substance abuse policy and his three-game sentence upon signing a contract for being placed on the roster exempt list whether he's a Charger or not.

Rumors about V-Jax continue to fly - CBSSports.com
Minnesota is apparently playing Minnesota on the 17th.Rumors have been flying across the Internet all day about the Chargers trading estranged WR Vincent Jackson to Minnesota. It’s a done deal, at least one non-news Twitter feed proclaimed.
Well, according to various reports, the rumor, for now, is not true. That’s not to say the Vikings, Chargers and Jackson’s representatives aren’t in talks, because they very well might be. Especially with Wednesday’s 4 p.m. trade deadline looming (if he’s traded, he only has to sit out a four-game suspension; if not, it’s back to six games out with San Diego).
But the Vikings might not be the only team still actively interested in somebody who wants close to $10 million a season to play.
According to Brian Stull of 101-ESPN in St. Louis, the Rams are still interested in possibly acquiring Jackson’s services. Apparently, Washington also remains in the mix.
If Jackson is traded to Minnesota, he would be available for the Oct. 17 game vs. Minnesota. If it’s St. Louis instead, he would be ready for Oct. 10 at Detroit.

I guess my point is that Favre needs a receiver NOW, not by October 17th. This trade doesn't solve their immediate issue. Harvin is not healthy, Berrian is MIA, and the rest are garbage. So unless they can clone Shiancoe, he's screwed.
BTW, the Eagles did the right thing and Vick will start this week.

But who's available now that's better than Vincent Jackson?
Who's available now period? The NFL isn't like baseball. Generally speaking there really isn't anyone all that good available at the deadline. There are extenuating circumstances leading to someone of Vincent Jackson's caliber being on the block.
So, of their three options, which one would you prefer?
1. Go with what they've got all season long
2. Go with what they've got until 10/17 and then have Vincent Jackson
or
3. Find some mediocre scrub that's probably not much better than what they've got so they can get a new WR now.

Kendra's husband expects to sign with the Vikings according to Schefter's tweets. Basically, the black version of Camarillo. I get it, a Vincent Jackson deal is probably unlikely. But to keep adding the same player they have plenty of, isn't helping. At least sign a running back that can catch the ball. Chester Taylor was huge for that team. I like Gerhart, but he's not the 3rd down back type.

looks like the Vikings may be going with option 3 after all and signing Basket. How does that improve them?

Ha, the Chargers' ballcarriers handle the ball like a bunch of sloppy retards. It's ironic that they should be losing to the trap game choke artist Pete Carroll.
So what exactly did the Jets get for Leon Washington? Krispy Kremes for Rex Ryan?

That's all folks! Costco Sundays have arrived early, and time for all the Charger fans posting on the Interwebs to replace their avatars of their favorite players with pictures of their kids.
