This caught my eye the most. Really, I like Pena. He's been a great community guy, when he's good, he's really good. But he's inconsistent, and I could understand if the Tigers release him, but it'll just be a shame to see him not a Tiger.RELEASE POINT? If the Tigers want to avoid owing first baseman Carlos Pena his full $2.8-million salary for this season, they must release him by Wednesday (in which case they would owe him about $700,000). Pena doesn't have a role on the club and has struggled all spring. But perhaps management might want to give Pena, 27, one more shot, this time with Leyland and the new coaching staff.
As for the defense of the Tigers, glad to see Leyland focusing on it. Defense is a major part of the game, and the better defense we have, the less runs to possible be scored.
