I wouldn't mind seeing Abreu, I just hope he didn't use all his magic in the HR derby last year. Although his OBP is #2 in baseball behind Hafner.

Agreed, LH bat is a want but it'd be worth it to watch us win game 7 at Comerica. If we have to give up a lesser prospect and take Abreu's salary, heck yes. We have to win now because there are no guarantees in the future.

Dmitri is supposed to play in Toledo in the near future (no dates announced as of yet) and who knows. The guy is an enigma. He can hit for average. He can hit for a bit of power. What he needs is for Bondo, Justin, Kenny, Nate, and Zach to take him out back and kick the crap out of him so he gets his head on straight.

Enough coddling. I used the 'pitchers' as the butt kickers because they'd benefit the most from his bat. More offense = easier life for pitchers. Dmitri needs to get his head on straight and maybe a good butt kicking is in order.

If you can't tell, I have a love/hate thing for Dmitri. I love his potential but hate his excuses.

I almost forgot the Reds.

I noticed their forum is HUGE.

I don't fear Reds fans, especially if they come at you verbally the way their team fields the baseball.

Brandon Inge was born to be a Cincinnati Red. Lots of errors (although fewer than ARod and I'm not saying he's a better fielder than ARod) and hits for low average.

At times the guy just kills me.

Yah the Reds fan base here is huge. Cause they recruit and get fans here. Something I hope to do for the Tigers. Inge was horrible defense wise before this season, but this season, defense is a lot better. Including Brandon Inge.

Your right. The time is now to go all the way and win. I like Dmitri. He was our "superstar" when are team sucked and we had nobody to watch really. He can really hit sometimes, but this season, he just plainly sucked. I can understand people not liking his excuses or what not, but I think hes a good guy who just has some problems right now.

If he can play to his potential then he's very possibly the missing piece. I'll admit that while watching the all star game I couldn't stop thinking how nice it'd be to have Lance Berkman.

I could actually picture that. I just would like to see another hitter here, just cause I think this team could use a new face, a great hitter. I'm afraid that the White Sox are going to get somebody like a Jason Scmidt and we need to counter that move by getting a Abreu or a Berkman.

I think we need a few things to win the division, which comes first.

1. Kenny Rogers can't have a late season collapse. He's usually not as strong later in the season.

2. The bullpen needs to sustain their high level. I'd really like to see Todd Jones get outs a bit faster. I like suspense as much as the next guy, I just don't like it out of a closer.

3. Health. 'Nuff said.

First off, I've been hearing about this Kenny Rogers late season collapse and I usually have just shrugged off the idea. I really never paid attention to Rogers seasons before now. He's just been pitching so well this season that it's hard to imagine him not pitching well late in the season. Plus, new team and a great pitching coach, I just hope he continues on pitching like he has.

The bullpen has been our strong point all season. It's really been impressing me. On a sidenote, I'd like to see Dombrowski sign Walker to a long term deal. Anyways, Todd Jones hasn't been pitching great this season. I actually wouldn't mind seeing Rodney closing games every other game, having him and Todd Jones switch in and out of the closers spot. While I have been really impressed by Zumaya. I love it when he comes out onto the mound and just starts throwing high 90s. Bullpen definitely needs to keep it up.

Health is always a major factor for any team in keeping a good season going. Thats always a given.

A major important need for us to win this division is to keep playing like we have to try and take it a game at a time. Worst thing that can happen is these young kids get a big head and we totally bomb out and start going on losing streaks. I have trust in Leyland and the staff, that they won't allow that to happen.

I remember Leyland absolutely blowing up earlier this year and it seemed to set the tone for the season.

I can't see this staff letting the team run amok. Not here, not now.

I wouldn't mind seeing both Rodney and Zumaya get a shot to close. They're both fun to watch. We went to the Tigers/Reds game and one pitch showed 102 on the scoreboard. Pretty sweet until Griffey unloaded.

What gets me pumped is when our pitchers (like Bonderman tonight) don't have their best stuff but we've got enough to win. I don't care if it's KC or a little league team, winning is all that matters. I'd rather win ugly than lose pretty!!!

Leyland is never afraid about being truthful and I like that. I hope he can keep steering this ship straight to the world series.

Zumaya in the closing role this season, that would be pretty exciting. I wouldn't mind seeing him up in the rotation at all. He deserves to get a start. I believe he is ready. I wouldnt mind seeing Humberto Sanchez called up to the bullpen, cause he's definitely ML ready.

Zumaya has reached 100 MPH and it's just amazing. I've seen him consitently throw in the upper 90s before and that's just exciting to see.

What kills me is everyone saying that Verlander will flounder because he throws soooo hard and he's so young.

Anybody watch Verlander pitch and then watch Zumaya? Verlander looks effortless. Zumaya is the guy 'reaching' for the heater. (And getting it)

As long as Verlanders mechanics stay good, I see no reason for him to falter. The guy reminds me of Bartolo Colon (minus seventy pounds and with a better hook) in 1995 or 1996. My favorite pitchers are guys that can strike you out with nothing but gas and getting you by going up the ladder.

Is there a better pitch to see than a high fastball at 100 mph?

Zuymaya had a bit of a rough outing yesterday but I'm confident that was just an aberration. He'd be a lights out closer!!!

Verlander will pitch well tonight! Go Tigers!

This is the way all of the games should've gone the past three days.

Verlander was downright nasty and we scored plenty to win any game. (If the game is well pitched.)

We played very well tonight.

The uniforms were pretty gay. KC's uniforms were alright. Detroits, not so much.

Hitting was great. All the starters got a hit except Monroe (More on him later in the post). Gomez was just a PH who struck out. Anybody else feel that Gomez should be demoted. I know he had a great spring, but he just hasn't been stunning at the ML level.

Now onto Monroe. He's in a huge slump. He was our best player last season and now, he's sucked for the majority of this season. Yah, he's on pace to have a career high in HRs. His avg. is down, his OBP is down, and his OPS is even down.

He's capable of hitting better, cause he did it in the two previous seasons. I wish he would return to his 2005 form. Cause that's when he was playing his best baseball.

Verlander was great, as I have said before. I see no reason why this kid shouldn't be up there in votes for the Rookie of the year. Should be atleast considered for AL Cy Young. I have a feeling though that the rookie of the year will go to Liriano.

Jamie Walker did great with pitching the rest of the game. Only shows more as to why Jamie Walker should get that deal he's been asking for. He wants to end his career as a Tiger. Dombrowski should grant him his wish. Jamie Walker has always been very solid for the Tigers in the bullpen.
