Verlander was the unanimous choice after registering a sparkling 24-2 record, 2.40 ERA, 0.92 WHIP and 250/57 K/BB ratio over 251 regular-season innings. He's also a worthy candidate for the American League MVP. The Angels' Jered Weaver finished second in the Cy Young ballotting and Tampa Bay's James Shields finished third. Yankees ace CC Sabathia came in fourth.
