Verlander wins Cy Young Award

Justin Verlander was named the American League Cy Young Award winner on Tuesday afternoon.
Verlander was the unanimous choice after registering a sparkling 24-2 record, 2.40 ERA, 0.92 WHIP and 250/57 K/BB ratio over 251 regular-season innings. He's also a worthy candidate for the American League MVP. The Angels' Jered Weaver finished second in the Cy Young ballotting and Tampa Bay's James Shields finished third. Yankees ace CC Sabathia came in fourth.

To no one's surprise, Justin Verlander won. He was simply the best pitcher in the AL last year, possibly the best in MLB.
