    Tigers Mr. Perfect

    Jose Valverde is somehow 40-40 in save opportunities this season! I know this hasn't been in the mainstream media but it is kind of amazing how he has been perfect all season. He has a K/BB of 32/53 and a WHIP of 1.31. Not exactly sexy numbers from a closer but he has gotten the job done every time the Tigers have needed a save. They wouldn't be in first place without him shutting the door. He leads the AL in saves, games finished and games pitched. Safe to say his $9 million option for next year will be picked up.

    The biggest surprise was the "passive" way he celebrated (?) getting his 40th.
