Detroit lands Young

Delmon Young has been shipped to Detroit for Cole Nelson and a box of condoms.

Last season was a career year and a time he consistently showed promise. He's been injured this season and has never really found a groove.

Young, the No. 1 overall pick in the 2003 draft by Tampa Bay, didn't become the feared power hitter that the Twins were hoping for when they acquired him in 2008. He was hitting .266 with just four homers and 32 RBIs in 84 games this season.


He's still only 25, though, and had what was probably his best season in 2010, hitting .298 with 21 home runs.

Nelson was a 10th round pick in 2010. He was 5-11 with a 4.87 ERA in 26 appearances for Class-A Lakeland this season.

I don't really understand this move but it didn't cost the Tigers anything of need so no big deal. I guess him and Magglio will fight for PT.

Verlander was pissed when he first saw Young in the clubhouse, he doesn't like to deal with opposing players....then he was informed he was now a team mate..........Oh, hey Buddy, welcome!

Nice of the Twins to still give him a bus ride to the Tiger's park instead of making him hail a cab.

One of the reasons the Twins asked for Nelson is because he's from Minnesota and always wanted to play for the Twins.
Hopefully, he'll help out in the near future.
