Tigers are in first place so this could be a huge addition for them.Joel Zumaya (shoulder) will rejoin the Tigers on Friday, according to the Detroit News.
Zumaya pitched in consecutive minor league games this week. While he'll be back on Friday, he won't be activated until Saturday. It looks like he has his fastball back, clocking anywhere from 94-97 mph in rehab. Look for manager Jim Leyland to ease him back into the lineup initially. If he returns to the form of 2006, which is a longshot, he could take over the closer's role from Fernando Rodney.
