I sure wish this guy could get back to his 2006 self because it was just fun to watch him pop 101 and 102 mph on the radar gun. Those days are behind him and it looks now that he could be just a one year wonder because of injuries. The Tigers have a lot of pitching woes which will prevent them to being this beast we all thought they would be last year. Bonderman, Willis, Robertson, Zumaya, Miner and even Verlander are big question marks for this Tigers team. I expect another last place finish despite improving the defense up the middle.Tigers manager Jim Leyland admitted Sunday that he has "serious doubts" about whether Joel Zumaya will be ready for Opening Day.
Zumaya hasn't pitched in a game since he felt soreness in his shoulder earlier this month. The Tigers have several different options to fill his late-inning vacancy, including Juan Rincon and Casey Fien. Leyland had a few nice things to say about the 24-year-old Fien on Sunday: "He looked good. The track record says he's a strike thrower."
