Rockies placed RHP Ubaldo Jimenez on the 15-day disabled list, retroactive to April 2, with a cuticle cut on his right thumb.
It's a tough blow for the Rockies and fantasy owners, but there's no reason to risk further injury this early in the season. The good news is that the thumb is not infected like it was during spring training, so there's a good chance he'll be able to return on the first day he's eligible on April 17. Greg Reynolds will fill his spot in the starting rotation for now.

Tough break for the Rockies but this was definitely needed. His velocity was way down from last year's and I'm not totally sold that the cut was the main culprit. His velocity was down all spring. Rockies fans should be worried.

I'm glad they are shutting him down for a bit to get him healthy. I think we have some pitching depth to let him skip a start and be fine. Not worried yet.
