Rockies Acquire Betancourt from Tribe

Rockies acquired RHP Rafael Betancourt from the Indians for RHP Connor Graham.

The Rockies needed a quality bullpen arm and they got it in Betancourt, who will immediately become its top setup man to closer Huston Street. Betancourt missed a little more than a month of action earlier this year while dealing with a strained right groin. He's posted a 3.52 ERA in 30 2/3 innings this season.

Not a bad addition for Colorado.

Betancourt was a top level setup man just a couple years ago and is controlable for another year(5.4 million option on him). They didn't give up too much for a rent-a-player even if they don't bring Betancourt back, so it's a win for Colorado.

That's probably because Graham is a pitcher in A ball...he pitches for the Modesto Nuts!

Graham, 24, is an Ohio kid coming home. The 6-foot-7, 235 pound right-hander was a fifth-round pick in the 2007 draft out of Miami of Ohio. He went 7-4 with a 3.14 ERA and 87/41 K/BB rate in 80 1/3 innings over 16 starts with Class-A Modesto. Prior to this season, Baseball America ranked Graham the 12th-best prospect in the Rockies' organization.

I'm all for this. Our bullpen is the reason we're not about 4 games up on SF in the Wild Card in the last couple of weeks. I wouldn't mind getting someone else to help further solidify the bullpen.
