Dodgers definitely need Fuentes in their bullpen. Saito isn't being counted on to return this season and Broxton has been awful. If the Padres don't claim him, I sure hope the Giants do as they are more desperate for relief help.According to FOXSports.com's Ken Rosenthal, the Rockies have placed both Brian Fuentes and Willy Taveras on revocable waivers.
Fuentes has the better chance to be traded, and the Dodgers are the contender with the first crack at him. However, it's possible that a non-contender could claim him anyway. He's owed just $1 million over the rest of this season and he's nearly certain to bring back two draft picks as a free agent this winter, so why shouldn't the Padres put in a claim? Taveras, who is under control through 2010, is more likely to be dealt this winter.
Taveras can help a team like the Marlins. Marlins could use more speed and better defense and Willy provides both. Does anyone even realize that Taveras has 61 stolen bases?!? He could help a lot of teams but I think the Marlins would be the best fit.
