I understand we won't know what he could have done. But the point is he didn't do it. All we have to work with is what actually happened, and he's on the cusp. I wouldn't put him in

But Duke Snider, Yogi Berra, George Kell, Johnny Mize, Carl Yastremski, Kirby Puckett, and numerous others deserve it.

Just admit it, you didn't know the Hall of Fame standard and made up your own: perception.

    Everyone did.

The thing you have to realize is that there IS no standard. Yogi won 10 world series championships. Yaz won a triple crown. Everyone has their different ideas on who deserves in.

Dude, everyone is entitled to their opinion. He thinks he's not a HOFer and I don't either. 12 people voted no. He was a good hitter who comes up a little short in my opinion. I'm think writers will make too much of a bug deal about Coors field.

So Yogi's lauded because of his team's success? One good season gets you in the Hall?

I'm sorry, but Walker is a HOFer...his stats are too good to keep him out...plus it's not like Ebbets Field wasn't a banbox, or the short porch for Yogi at the Stadium.

Yes, but did anyone look at the stats and compare? They clearly didn't. If they had, they'd realize Walker is a deserving HOFer.

By the way, I don't think he'll be a first ballot guy, but the question was whether or not he deserves it. I think it's quite clear that he deserves it...whether he gets in is up to the whims of the BBWA

We gave you Jim Rice, and Ellis Burks who have very comparable stats. Burks will never get in, and Rice has not. I would say that at the very least, it's not "quite clear" that Walker deserves it/will get it

    I gave you no brainers...

    Like 5-7

That Walker had BETTER numbers than...give me a non-HOF who has better numbers than Walker...

Who, Dale Murphy? Seriously, this is shenanigans.

How about you all agree you were wrong and you followed the crowd and didn't look up his numbers in comparison

Jim Rice has 1 fewer HR, a BA 14 points lower, but almost 300 more hits.

Andre Dawson has a BA 34 points lower, but about 600 more hits, and 50 more HR

Neither of them are in. There ya go!

    And they are considered "shafted."

You like perception, so there you go. I'm asking for a guy who's name I hear and who isn't a HOFer.

The closest thing you've given me is Ellis Burks, but Walker was way better...

Re: Larry Walker, hall of famer?

Some people consider them shafted. The way I see it, you have to have one thing that sticks out (AT LEAST 1 thing). Whether it's 3000 hits, 500 HR, 300 wins, 3000 K's, etc. Larry Walker was a very good player. His home run numbers were good. His average was very good. His hits were good. But he is just not a HOF player. I think there are plenty of guys in who shouldn't be. I think you proved that. But just because he was a very good player doesn't mean he gets into the hall of fame. Because, you know what, you're right. It's a popularity contest. READ THAT AGAIN. It's the hall of FAME! Believe it or not, fame is one's widespread reputation. Larry Walker doesn't have what it takes to get in. I'm sorry if that upsets you, but it's true.
