The Rockies still have a good bullpen. I see them swapping back and forth a few more times this season.Rockies manager Clint Hurdle named Brian Fuentes the team's new closer.
He will take over for Manny Corpas, who has blown three consecutive saves. Fuentes was a three-time All Star closer before losing his job to Corpas last June, and while his skills have declined somewhat, he should be effective in the ninth inning. He's allowed three runs 11 innings this season, and makes a solid addition in leagues of all sizes.
Yes, they still have a solid bullpen. It's good to see Fuentes take over for a while until Corpas gets his act together.

Fuentes made Fukudome look silly today. Three straight pitches, three straight sliders, three straight UGLY swings from Fukudome that completely whiffed. Fukudome looked like a pitcher swinging the bat, it was that bad. He was fooled.
I just watched a replay of the Rockies game, and you are 100% correct in your statement. Fukudome looked like a drunken schoolgirl swinging at a pinata for the last out.

Back to the Fuentes era. The question is will he be the Fuentes of last season or two years ago.
I've been pretty busy with work and haven't been able to catch many games...but I haven't missed much. For awhile there, the bullpen was losing games every night. Of course now we can't even get a lead in a game TO blow...
Rough start.
Manny Corpas needs to change something. I don't know if it's his mentality, his mechanics, or what, but he needs to get back to the way he was last year down the stretch.
