Former Astros second baseman Jeff Kent found out Tuesday night at his home in Austin, Texas that his alma mater, Cal-Berkeley, announced its plan to eliminate four NCAA intercollegiate sports, including the baseball program, after this academic year.

"If I could put it in one word, I'm disgusted right now," Kent told the San Francisco Chronicle Tuesday night. "I'm absolutely embarrassed to be a Cal baseball alum knowing the school is cutting the program."
