Having Soriano and Gonzalez signed, does this make Kerry Wood available? I believe he only has 2010 left on his contract.
If the Tribe is trying to compete, they likely won't trade him. I guess it comes down to their thoughts on the competition.

I tend to think, given the Tribe's direction (or indication of direction by recent trades) that they would be pretty happy to ditch Wood's contract. He can rack up the punchout, but he isn't going to be a lights out closer if last season was any indication. I do think if he stays healthy that he can put up better numbers than he did last year, especially since his numbers last season were skewed by a couple of bad months to kick of the season.

With there being a fair amount of arms on the FA list, I would be surprised to see someone give up talent to get Wood.

If I said extendable, then maybe. But no man should worry about the word I actually used. Well, maybe John Wayne Bobbit.
Let's put it this way. Given the Indians have made CC Sabathia, Cliff Lee, and Victor Martinez expendable, then hell yes Kerry Wood is expendable, too.
