well, wood is supposed to be dominant against your lineup (12-3, 10-0 in cincy) but you guys beat him like a rented mule.

I'm not sure the argument that the Reds should score more runs than the Cubs against Perez carries much water.Originally Posted by rockin500

Cubs: 73 runs scored
Reds: 55 runs scored
The Cubs have dominated on the offensive end thus far.
MLB ranks for the two teams(not including tonight):
Cubs: Tied for 11th (above average offensive team so far)
Reds: Tied for 21st(below average offensive team so far)

Ya, you are right rockin. It is a different year and we have a newly shaped lineup on our hands. Good point! We have faced a lot of tough pitchers so far this year. Which could be why our numbers look so bad.
Yeah you're right. Dunn actually did pretty good versus Perez last year. Pena struggled hitting like .222 and Griffey had 0 hits and 5 K's in 10 AB's versus Perez.Originally Posted by CincyRedsFan30

hmmmm strange. of course, we do have that 16 run abberation on opening day skewing those numbers a tad.
but still, i thought you guys were better offensively than that so far.
So far the Reds' lineup has been bad enough that it hasn't competed with the lineup of the D-Backs... who have scored 12 more runs through tonight.
Here was their lineup today(not in order):
Kata
Clayton
Clark
Glaus
Green
Hairston
Terrero
Snyder
Hopefully our lineup will start doing what that lineup has done thus far.

Yup. Except the statistics say otherwise.Originally Posted by rockin500

The Cards should have a better record that the Reds.
lets compare schedules to date:
Reds have faced:
Mets(Pedro Martinez, Tom Glavine)
Cards-(Mulder)
Astros-(Oswalt twice, Clemens, Pettitte)
Cubs-(Wood, Prior)
Cards:
Astros
Philly
Reds
Brewers
Pirates
We have faced much better pitching. I'm not saying we will finish ahead of the Cards, because I know we won't. I'm just saying the Cards should have a better record to this point because we have faced some of the best pitchers in the game.
and it doesn't get any better-Florida over the weekend(best pitching in MLB), Zambrano and the Cubs next week)
It seems like God is wanting the Reds to always face tough pitchers. We seemed to always get tough pitching last year... and we have so far this year.
