The Simpson family gathers around, as Homer places Bart's passed test on the fridge.)
Homer: We're proud of you, boy.
Bart: Thanks, Dad. But part of this D-minus belongs to God.

FARM REPORT: D.J. Mattox, the 23-year-old right-hander, made his season debut at Single-A Sarasota Friday. Mattox, a Rule 5 selection last year who is coming back from "Tommy John" surgery, allowed one earned run on two hits over three innings. He walked four and struck out three.
thats good for DJ, i have been really interested in what he can produce. hopefully he can straighten out his control problems
If Miley does not find Freel as a starter soon, then DJ will be back in the lineup screwing things up again. So Miley may have to take interest in Bergolla and then Howard. I am glad to see that we have prospects that can possibly do some things in the major leagues to replace someone that can't. (at least he can't for now.)
Anyone know how good Bergolla and Howard are defensively?

LHP Phil Dumatrait made his first Double-A start for Chattanooga, surrendering 2 runs -- one earned -- and 5 hits in 4 innings, walking zip and K'ing 6. Dumatrait, who missed last season due to "Tommy John" surgery, was just promoted from High-A Sarasota where he posted a 2.70 ERA in 3 starts and fanned 13 batters in 10 innings. I think Dumatrait, 23, is still a quality pitching prospect and he could end up helping the Reds in 2006.
