What scares me about Tim Naehring is that we don't seem to be developing the defensive skills of these guys in the minors. EdE is a great example -- he can hit well and I would take my chances on him offensively in the bigs right now.

he just cannot play thirdbase at the major league level.

Looks like Chatanooga may need some help in their bullpen as well.

Another good note is Romano. He is hitting .330 after a 3-5 night tonight!

    Thanks for the update Volzok!

Yeah Romano is hitting well from the leadoff spot. 3 RBI tonight. I wouldnt be surprised if hes called up soon since he almost made the team anyway.

Yeah, he is one of O'Brien's favorites. But he is an outfielder so who could he replace? I think he does have some infield experience and he has some speed, so if the team wants to get rid of Jiminez and put Freel at 2B. They have the option of calling Romano for a utility role.

Good call. I guess there isnt really a spot for him. But I would defintely say if anyone as far as batters gets hurt he is there in a heartbeat.

Dragon notes from Dayton Daily News

    • First baseman Tonys Gutierrez sat out a second straight day because he was sick. He's day-to-day.

    • Hernandez' sore shoulder certainly isn't harming his hitting. He has hit two homers in two days and is hitting .478 over the last six games. Janish is trying to keep up. The shortstop's two-run homer gave him seven RBIs over the last six games, during which he has hit .304.

    • The 13 Dragons strike outs were spread out. Only outfielder Phil Gentry and third baseman Drew Anderson were not victims among the nine Dayton batters.

    • Winning pitcher Ryan Webb is notable in that he was chosen by the A's in the fourth round of last summer's draft, only the second high school pick in the top five rounds for the team over the last decade. He struck out seven and walked none in his six innings, even though he allowed three runs.
