Reds Opening Day Infield for 2005

I read this morning that the Pirates are considering the possibility of Joe Randa at third base. It would be a regular Reds reunion in Pittsburgh.

But that got me thinking: which Reds infielders who started on opening day in 2005 will be starting there in 2006?

Will Sean Casey chat up runners at first? ... Nope.
Will D'Angelo Jimenez take up space at second? ... Nope.
Will Rich Aurilia enrage message board members everywhere? ... Nope.
Will Joe Randa hold down the hot corner? ... Nope.
Will the Reds be much better off for all this change? ...

RHM, is there a reason your site has been down all day?

Goatee or no goatee, I'd take gladly take Aurilia over Womack. Granted that is if I am faced with the option of him or Woemack, but sadly I would be quite happy if the re-signing of him crushes Tony Womack's dreams of starting.

    Rich Aurilia - 2B - Reds

Free agent Rich Aurilia said Monday that he doesn't think he fits into the Reds' payroll.
"I talked with (assistant GM) Dean Taylor a few days ago and they made an offer, but frankly I was disappointed," Aurilia said. "It wasn't much more than they paid me last year." Aurilia also didn't like the idea that he wouldn't be guaranteed a starting job if he re-signed with the Reds. "And I read a quote from (GM) Dan O'Brien that if I signed that I'd compete with (Ryan) Freel and (Tony) Womack for second base and that competition is good. I've been e-mailing with (manager) Jerry Narron and I told him I don't know what more I have to do to prove I'm an every day player." How about having more than one good year in four? It's just a suggestion. Dec. 20 - 1:45 am et
    Dear Rich Aurilia,

    Quit being a douchebag, douchebag.

    Love,

I think I must have committed some horrific evil and this is my karmic retribution. Freel gets a two-year deal, non-tender deadline is tonight, and I can't write a thing about it.

Whatever I did, oh universe, I'm sorry!
