    DanO here to stay?

    From the Lancaster Blog:

In a move that says more with what it implies, the Reds have hired longtime Astros front-office man Andres Reiner as a special assistant to the GM in player development. The 70-year-old Reiner is best known for spearheading the Astros' push into Venezuela, a move that helped unearth players such as Bobby Abreu, Freddy Garcia, Carlos Guillen and Johan Santana. He'll assist Tim Naehring and field coordinator Bob Miscik in all aspects of player development.

The obvious underlying element to this hire is that it's hard to believe this move would have been made if Dan O'Brien's job was in any immediate danger. The two have a long relationship dating back to O'Brien's days with the Astros. Reiner had been with the Houston organization for the last 17 years.

This was made several days ago, before Fay's article about Castellini possibly bringing in his own guys, etc.

I don't think O'Brien will stay and if he does, he won't last long into the season.

Homer: We're proud of you, boy.

Bart: Thanks, Dad. But part of this D-minus belongs to God.

But this does add speculation. Not much, but some. Interesting to say the least.
