Votto out 3-4 weeks!!

Joey Votto is expected to be sidelined for 3-4 weeks after having surgery Tuesday to repair a torn meniscus in his left knee.
The initial projection of two weeks seemed overly optimistic, and now we have a more realistic timetable. Votto originally hurt the knee on June 29 and missed a couple games. He's tried to play through it since then but has had uneven results. Todd Frazier should be the regular first baseman in his absence as long as Scott Rolen can stay healthy and hold down third base.

With news like this, is Walt's hand forced to acquire a bat of some sort? Replacing Votto won't happen of course, but minimizing the impact of his loss you would think would be a consideration.

I think if this was to happen, now is the time. next 16 games are against teams with a sub .500 record. That said, Todd Fraizer (as much as I love the guy) SHOULD NOT BAT 3rd. I don't know what dusty was thinking there. he did ok, but he obviously did not protect Cozart.

I can't see the reds making a huge splash because teams know they need the help, price just skyrocketed with this news. No, instead the pressure falls squarely on the shoulders of Jay Bruce. He wants to take his game to the next level, he wants to show people he's not Adam Dunn with a glove, this is his chance. There is NO ONE in AAA, there is no one that is going to spark this team, there is no trade thats going to help without giving up the farm.

Bad news, Votto was found to still have a piece of cartilage floating in his repaired knee. They preformed another surgery, out an additional 1-2 weeks.

On a side note, Ryan Ludwick should get some MVP or at the very least comeback player of the year. The way he has played in vottos absence is ridiculous.
