What is it with this organization and the Juan Castro love? Doesn't matter who the GM is, who the coach is... we think Castro is a god for some reason. Don't get me wrong, I like the guy and I don't mind having him on the roster if he's 24 or 25, but they give him such a role at times.

Great job here in the 8th against the tough Qualls.

Freel with a nice AB for once lately gets the BB, Phillips Triples him home, Griffey singles past the shift then gets his first steal in three years and forces Ausmus' throw in CF, allowing him to go to 3B. Conine then hits a sac. fly to make it 5-4 Reds. Gonzalez HBP and now on 1B with 1 out.

Oh and this is another game of TOLERABLE performance from Milton. Let's just Griffey has done the trick (I didn't see the swing, but could 'The Kid' be back or at least hot for once this season?)

    Re: Random Reds Rumblings

Griffey is looking very sharp lately. Hitting the ball hard fairly often.

And Milton was tolerable, though not great.

He does seem to finally understand he doesn't have a decent fastball anymore, which is making him pitch more "crafty," similar to the tolerable version of Paul Wilson a few years ago.

Seems Pole has worked with him in terms of moving the ball around in the zone (especially coming in on hitters a bit more) and throwing strikes that aren't really strikes but make hitters fish.

Really, Milton has yet to be bombed. Of course he hasn't sparkled or gone deep into the game, but 5 or 6 innings of keeping us within reaching is not half bad (not worth even half the money he gets paid, but I'll take it at this point.)

    Re: Random Reds Rumblings

Basically he's been a significantly overpaid No. 5 starter. As long as he stays that and doesn't get any worse, I can tolerate him for this year before that salary comes off the books.

If he starts struggling: time for the DFA I called for after his rough ST.

And then we can let Bailey and Chewie battle it out for #5.

    on that one.

Stanton in to pitch with 1 out in the 8th for the Astros.

And Lamb slaps one into CF for a single.

Loretta reaches down and singles one into LF. Nice hitting.

    1st and 2nd, 1 out.

Scott the Reds Killer is PH.

    Scott Doubles.

    6-5 Astros.

Looks like two under .500 after all and a losing road trip for the franchise that can't.

    This bullpen...ugh.

Seems a bit odd Stanton stayed in to face Scott, who is batting over .400 against LHP this year.

Weathers is NOW coming in after this one is probably over.

Biggio Doubles to make it 7-5 Astros.

And I am finished with this one I think. Geez.

Why is Narron obsessed with Stanton and Weathers as the main setup/closers? Oh that's right, they are veterans who "play the game the right way."

I guess a few days off over the weekend and on Monday didn't do them any good since they don't miss enough bats.

Really there is no reason Coffey should have left the game.

And why does Salmon not get a chance in this role? I guess he isn't "experienced" enough for Jerry. And he probably throws too hard.

Wheeler in to try to slam the door as always against the Reds.

Current Reds players are (4-49) against him.

Hamilton singles to CF though (keep starting him!).
