Reds start the game with a HR, single, walk, triple, HR! 5-0 no outs! Great great start.... Don't blow this arroyo!

The players seemed much more comfortable at the plate in the 1st than they have recently. They need to simply relax, offensively. IMO that is a pretty big part of the problem on the hitting side. Many of them seem tense/anxious too foten.

Doesn't hurt when you go from seeing Chris Carpenter and Jaime Garcia to Jake Westbrook on the mound.

Certainly doesn't hurt but the Cards' rotation in general has performed quite well and Wesbrook has thrown his share of those gems.

Also we peppered the weakness of their defense early RF with Berkman. As one other poster said before the season The Cards Defensive Motto: "I can't get it!"... "Neither can I!"

Bill Bray making this very interesting again. As always he makes me nervous. Descalso clutch as he usually tends to be.

Arroyo with another very shaky outing. Yeah - it's the pitching.

Sir Albert coming up as the potential go-ahead run. Ondrusek in for more fun.

This Cardinals team just looks so talented in every facet.

    Re: Random Reds Rumblings

Ondrusek doesn't get the job done (of course) as Sir Albert bounces a clutch one down the 3B line for a single. 8-7 after 7. The Cards just batted around. What a TERRIBLE pitching staff from top to bottom (with a couple of exceptions, maybe).

Jon Jay with the clutch, game-tying HR in the 9th and now the Cards will go for the win (without Berkman/Molina even in the game). Those Krivsky pitchers are just gifts to unwrap on an almost nightly basis.

Oh nice - more extra innings. We know how those usually go for the team recently

    Re: Random Reds Rumblings

The Reds signed 16-year-old Venezuelan righty Jonathan Perez for $825K, reports Baseball America's Ben Badler.

BA's scouting report says Perez has a projectable body that will allow him to add velocity, although he's already touched 92. His curveball and changeup need polish, but that's to be expected for someone his age.

Venezuela's top July 2nd pitching prospect, Victor Sanchez, remains unsigned. To follow all the rumors on Venezuelan ballplayers in Spanish, check out our peloteros venezolanos category over at Rumores de Béisbol.
Perhaps they could teach him how to drive while they're at it.

That was crazy, on the radio they were asking how that happened! They said, "is that guy in the stands holding his pitch? He is! It went through the netting!"
