Fact of the day: When the Reds make the playoffs, it will be only the second time in the history of the city that both the Bengals and the Reds will have played a playoff game in the same calendar year. The Bengals played the Jets on January 9th of this year. The only other time was 1990 when the Bengals played the Oilers on January 6th and of course the Reds made the playoffs and won the WS.

It truly is weird to see people downtown wearing Reds or Bengals gear and not doing so with slight shame.

I gotta hand it to the Reds. I never would have guessed them to be making the postseason this year. They certainly proved me wrong. I remember quoting on my blog prior to opening day "The Cardinals should win the NL Central with ease" while making my predictions.

I guess we can add that quote to the 'stupid baseball quotes' thread now huh?

The NL Central is setting up to be a knock-out drag-out kind of fight in the next few years. Should be interesting, and a lot of fun to watch.

I bought my tickets for game one of the NLDS last night before bed on Reds.com. Hell yes. Today will be a good day.

I was unfortunately denied for NLDS tickets. Stupid Reds. If you want people to come to your park, get rid of lotteries for tix.

That's the thing, I lost the lottery but last night, for whatever reason, tickets were made available to all in some small number.

Trading for Rolen was brilliant, even if his performance wasn't as great as it has been, he was such a needed presence on the team.

Yeah, sometimes it's beyond just the straight stats - which is one of Jocketty's trademarks. He also knows when to sign players at the right time, it seems. Miguel Cairo is a good example; he made some similar move for solid contributors with the Cardinals.

Probably a good idea. They need him in the future rotation, hopefully joining Chapman, Volquez, Wood/Bailey/Cueto and hopefully a bonafide ace at the top of the chain.
