Hal suggests a Kearns to the Cubs trade

    Call the Cubs

A hint for Reds General Manager Dan O'Brien: If you want to trade Austin Kearns — and you should if you are going to keep him exiled in Louisville — give Chicago Cubs GM Jim Hendry a call. The fast-fading Cubs are desperate for hitting, and left-handed pitcher Rich Hill might be available.

Who's Hill? He pitches for Class AAA Iowa, and he has 148 strikeouts in 95 2/3 innings between Double-A, Triple-A and the majors. In 5 2/3 innings with the Cubs, he struck out nine major-leaguers. One scout said, "He has a Barry Zito-like curveball."

Just dial 1-773-404-2827. Ask for Jim and be nice.

I don't know if he is worth Kearns since if we could trade Casey, we would have a better option. But this is definitely somethng to consider.

Hill certainly strikes out a lot of guys, but his WHIP is ugly a lot of those years.

It basically comes down to how desperate we are. Hill has some pretty good stuff as evident of his extremely high K/9. But like Geki mentioned his control is an issue. He's not a great prospect by any means. And I think it comes down to asking yourself, if Kearns was playing to his potential, would you want to deal him for a guy like that? And to me, that's a big fat no.

    I agree mission.

And another thing, we probably don't need another left handed starter. We have Claussen at least for the next couple of years and we will also probably be stuck with
Milton for the next couple of years.
