Reds Miguel Cairo signs a minor league deal

John Fay reprts this on twitter as well. Since it is a minor league deal, it won't hurt to try, I guess.

Team #9 in the awe-inspiring sub-par career of Miguel Cairo.

Well said mission, I wonder if this also quiets the talks of Cabrera. When looking at it, a lot of people are mentioning his decline in defense. I haven't seen enough of him lately to validate an argument either way. But, I still contend that we need a plan B for Janish. Or, have Janish become plan B. Cairo is absolutely not that guy.

I think, given Jocketty of late, that Cairo is the plan B to the plan B. I still would rather us sign Orlando Hudson and shift Phillips over to SS. Won't happen I know, but imagine that infield defense (with the bonus benefit of Hudson actually capable of producing some runs.)

I still can't get past the thought of how great that would be. Of course we are dreaming heavy here now. But the dream almost fits. Phillips and Hudson are real good friends. If Phillips were comfortable with moving, I think he should gio ahead and say something. We know the Reds won't approach him on it though.

If it were anyone else, I don't see Phillips doing it. But for his buddy, I would think he would at least consider it.

    Votto-Hudson-Phillips-Rolen = nasty defense.
