Frazier; shot at SS?

Perhaps Phillips becomes expendable after this season? Is this his last year on the contract?

If so, and if this team is not contending; perhaps he goes before the deadline. Frazier for 2B in 2011?

I was wrong on the deal, it's not til next year that it starts to look scary (given his production.) Phillips will make $6.75 million this season but next season it jumps to $11 million. And then there is a 2012 team option at a whopping $12 million, with a $1 million buyout.

I see Jocketty trying to trade Phillips this season then. We have someone who may be able to replace him legitimately in Frazier and Valaika as a plan B.

Phillips' contract gets steep. Yet, I know we can afford it with Harang and Arroyo off the books next year. But I would rather use that money for a need. We may not have a need at 2 with those guys being able to fill in.
