Chief operating officer John Allen declined to comment Sunday when asked about the poor start to the season by the Reds. The club went into the day on a six-game losing streak, a season-high 16 games under .500 and 17½ games behind the St. Louis Cardinals in the National League Central.
The Reds won Sunday, beating Atlanta 11-8, but they are 6-8 since Allen flew to Colorado on the last day of a road trip to meet with manager Dave Miley.
Allen said at the time that the Reds' performance was "unacceptable."
The Reds have basically been spinning their wheels since his visit.
Some on the staff think changes are inevitable.
"Something's got to happen," one coach said before Sunday's game.
The Reds open a three-game series with St. Louis today. They are off Thursday, and then go to Cleveland for a three-game series.
The off day would seem like a natural time to shake things up.
Are changes coming?
"I'm not going to comment," Allen said.
After the meeting in Colorado, he said that no one's job was in immediate jeopardy. So read what you will into Sunday's no comment.
