Oh I'm sorry I didn't know he went out there and put up 6 ERAs instead of Eric Milton and the rest of the trash we had in his early years. I guess it's his fault that the team era during most of those years were among the worst (if not the worst) in baseball.
Who else do the Reds have right now? Dunn's the most productive hitter on this team period end of discussion. Is there guys that could with time maybe out produce him (Votto, Bruce)? Possibly. But at this point Dunn is a LARGE part of this offense. 40/100/100bb/100runs doesnt exactly grow on trees.
C.C. is also looking for MORE money than Dunn. Talk is Dunn could be looking at anything from 8 to 17 mil range open market. CC is looking for the 20-25 mil range if they were going to get comparable money you could make the argument. Yes you can never have too much pitching BUT you can also have too much money tied into pitching. Yes If we got CC we would have arguably the best rotation in the majors top to bottom. But where are we going to get ANY offense from tieing up a combined 45ish mil in 3 pitchers when our total payroll has been in the 60 milish range or what about depth in case one of our starters gets hurt?
