Yeah. If we were the Braves, I wouldn't be so worried, since they seem to be better at molding things for pitchers. But with this being the Reds, it leaves me a bit nervous.Originally Posted by missionhockey21

Typical of O'Brien that he picked up another player from the state of Texas. Is anyone else worried that maybe he doesn't know about players outside of Texas?
I talked to a client of mine this morning who has 4 season tickets and of course is a big fan and he said, "watch them get a big white kid from Texas." I don't know anything about Bruce but was my client right?
I believe your client was spot-on.

This is the worst draft I've ever seen. Only Bruce and Ward are good picks. O'Brien and his staff are idiots.
Indeed they are. Of course, I guess we already knew that. Hopefully this will just give Allen more of a reason to fire him after this weekend.

they should have fired them before the draft so we dont have to put up with the crap they pick for us for years to come. I'd rather have i dont know Oprah draft for us then O' Brien and idiots. they know nothing about the game of baseball.. yes Oprah lol
Now they just re-signed someone they've had plenty of time to re-sign in the past. That was their "pick". O'Brien is clueless.
EDIT: It gets worse. Apparently the player(Loo) has said he's going to go to school one more year. That makes this even more ridiculous... if that's possible.

And it looks like Wood is also a strong canidate to choose school.
Reynolds is a moron, flatout.

I'm sure he and O'Brien get along quite well with each other.

I don't even trust John Allen to recognize a good draft from a horrible one.Originally Posted by CincyRedsFan30

I couldn't appreciate Epstein more, checking out the picks now.
Supposedly they got a guy with Damon potential and a closer who could be up really soon early.

Then out of fairness to the others you will be Slagathor.
Jay Bruce is a stud. Compared to Jim Edmonds. BA says he has the 2nd best plate discipline in the draft.
He's a 5 tool talent that can take walks.
Zach Ward throws in the low 90's with a hard curve and improving changeup.
the Reds are longshots
The MLB Draft is different that these guys most likely wont make an impact before 2-3 years down the road. By that time who knows what we will have. Its nice to get "what you need" but the time it takes them theres no guarentee of that need still being there.Originally Posted by Reds_fan_4_life
Also it could be the "powers that be" felt that the OF was a better spect than what pitchers were left.
HollywoodLeo: You and Kingdom always annoy me
"Oh, don't mind me, I'm rebuilding now" then you win at least 80 games

Marty did note that only 13 of 30 teams took pitchers in the 1st round. The pitching talent overall didn't appear to be great, but the Reds really missed on a few names they could have/should have signed.
