Wow, really never thought the management had this kind of stones. But I guess they had to find a scapegoat other than Miley. I am very happy with this move, but more need to be made in my opinion.

Yeah, more moves are needed, such as O'Brien and/or Miley be dumped and more releases.
No more Graves!!!! Wohooo!!!
I told you guys this was coming!

Bart: Thanks, Dad. But part of this D-minus belongs to God.
Who wants to bet we'll hear guys like Casey talk about how upset they are? Ala Aaron Boone a few years ago. Graves was very popular in the clubhouse for some reason.

Who's taking the roster spot?

Sounds like Keisler might take the spot.

Can he refuse a minor demotion and still take his $6mill?
Yep. And that's obviously the most likely thing he'll do.Originally Posted by Sea Ray

I still don't know why Miley announced this move. Is Dan O in hot water or just having a late lunch?

can he play for another team this year if he does that?

O'Brien is probably discussing the business of baseball with scouts of other teams, whom he is asking for their opinions on other possible roster moves.

Sure can. Let's see what sucker picks him up. If he hadn't "shown off" to Cleveland yesterday I'd say they would have picked him up. But now that they've seen how awful he is with their own eyes...Originally Posted by Wally Mo Pena

espn is reporting that it is keisler who will be up.

Embattled reliever designated for assignment
By Kevin Kelly
Enquirer staff writer
One day after Reds pitcher Danny Graves made an obscene hand gesture to a fan at Great American Ball Park, the Reds designated the veteran reliever for assignment this afternoon.
The move cuts ties between the Reds and Graves, who saved a team record 182 games during his eight-plus seasons in Cincinnati and was making $6.25-million this season.
“I had planned on publicly apologizing to the rest of the fans for my actions the last three weeks, but I guess I don’t get that chance,” Graves said. “Obviously I wish it didn’t happen. If none of this stuff happened with me and the fans, would I be here still? I have no idea. I have no idea….”
The Reds have 10 days to trade, release or pass Graves through waivers. Pitcher Randy Keisler’s contract was purchased from Triple-A Louisville and he will take Graves’ spot on the roster.
In 20 appearances this season, Graves went 1-1 with a 7.76 ERA 10 saves in 12 chances. The right-hander, who earlier this season criticized fans for booing the team, allowed five runs in one-third of an inning against the Indians on Sunday.
After he was removed from the game, Graves made a obscene gesture with his middle finger to a fan situated beside the dugout.
“I’ve been here for eight years, and I think I’ve done pretty decent in my time here,” Graves said. “I’ve done a lot for this organization and community. I changed roles, which possibly could’ve ruined my career. Maybe that’s why I don’t have velocity. I don’t know. I don’t have the answers.
“I just feel like I was given up on. There’s 29 other teams. Maybe somebody needs a right-handed reliever. If not then I’ll just go home and enjoy my time with my family.”
