Cincy, I don't think that comment was needed.

Homer: We're proud of you, boy.

Bart: Thanks, Dad. But part of this D-minus belongs to God.

For saying a statement which is probably true?

  4. #34
Wow, anyone watching the game on TV? I hate to turn it off because of Grande and Welsh complaining so much. Saying its other players faults that Graves was canned is unbelievable.

  5. #35
Grande and Welsh are idiots, more Grande than Welsh.

  6. #36
I can't tell you how many times I have seen Welsh out in public. I don't mind him as much, but tonight they really annoyed me. Marty hasn't said anything about it from when I was listening.

I am a believer in having a "good guy" on the team as much as anyone else but Grande and Welsh were really acting immature. I know they liked the guy but I am sorry, we're all not going to be remembering the good times with Graves (my those have came and went quite awhile ago.) Graves acted unprofessional, didn't do his job like his paycheck indicated he should and he is getting what he had coming. I was sad to see a guy like Boone go, but that was under very different circumstances.

i think they were right, the club should have done better. I'm not surprised that players are pissed and that the reds media is a little upset. Graves was unprofessional, but now the front office can't criticize him for that, because they were too. It's going to be embarassing when danny graves is helping another team get to the playoffs and we're paying him to do it. DanO is an idiot, and kind of a jerk it seems. It clearly wasn't just performance based, since paul wilson has been worse than graves, so why lie? And doing it over the phone is bush league.

lol.. you should have listend to extra innings after the game, Furhman was going off about it too.. Im sorry, but I wanted him gone, he is gone, and if the oganization and I are on the same page, its finally a first for the season

I don't listen to Furman anymore. I can't stand to listen to him. He is the guy that does stuff to piss you off so you will call in. I like listening to Tracy Jones a whole lot more.

Let the media complain, but the fans are now happy.

Paul Wilson has a guranteed contract for both this and next season totaling more than Graves. Plus someone had to be the fall guy I suppose.

I will not deny that the way this was handle was unprofessional on the part of the Reds but that's what will happen when you have an amateur in a demanding position. They wanted to make a statement and they did. I am sure they could of put Graves on the trade block, say they were willing to pay 80% of his contract and really want nothing much in return and move him. But they wanted the statement move.

Graves needs to be a man. No one needs to hold his hand. No way O'Brien should take a day out of his time preparing for the draft just to soothe Gravy's ego. The draft is more important than ego.

That said I do think O'Brien is a horrible GM and needs to go...but I don't have a problem with how he fired a guy with a 7 ERA. How much explaining does that take?

I did get some good news yesterday.. I have to move out of my house and get an apartment, in doing so I won't be able to afford cable... so that means I will HAVE to listen to the Reds on the Radio.. which is good I want to hear Marty and Steve way more then george and chris

it takes some explaining when the guy is the all time saves leader, you don't move him out of the closer's role first, don't put him on the dl, and you have several other pitchers with ERA's of 7.

I think dumping Graves was something that should have happened before now. I applaud the organization for doing it, even though they could have done it in a more professional fashion.
