IF Miley is fired, who do you want hired?

Post your nominations here. Maybe in a day or two we could either post a poll or do a survivor game with the coaches nominated. I am not extremely knowledgable on coaches in general so I think it would be interesting to hear why or why not certain coaches wouldn't be ideal.

Anyway, my nomination is Davey Johnson.

(If this is a stupid idea, don't be affraid to tell me. I know a come up with a lot of goofy stuff.)

    Some have mentioned Jim Leyland.

Jerry Narron. I think he is a solid manager. He would be a great fit. He did a good job with what he had to work with in Texas. He learned a lot under the late Johnny Oates in Baltimore and Texas. He is more than ready.

I doubt Davey Johnson is coming to Cincy, mission. It's a good choice, but Davey is going to manage if his team has a legit shot of winning it all like the Yankees. I am not sure if he wants to go through rebuilding at his age anymore. Davey will do what Phil Jackson would do in managing a team that is ready to win. BTW, I would love to see Davey manage. I am shocked no great team have called for his service. I know he stunk in LA, but his bad stint there shouldn't scare other teams up. Here's hoping time off can get him energized to manage. While I am it, I am hoping former Twins manager Tom Kelly would like to manage a baseball team. Baseball misses him.

Steak, I did not say it was a realistic chance, just the one I preferred.

Jim Leyland would be my dream choice. I'd be OK with Ron Oester. My bet is with O'Brien we'll get some no name who managed in the Texas system and bought him a coke on a hot day...

With DanO my bet is Narron. It is the easy choice and a decent one. But we need a new voice of reason in the dugout and it would be nice to see Davey Johnson. But my dream is Leyland as well. That would be huge.

    Other names to consider:

    Art Howe
    Jerry Manuel
Bobby Valentine (he has some fire in his approach)
Jim Fregosi (also has a fiery attitude)

I wouldn't mind seeing Barry back either.

    I don't think Barry's a choice as long as John Allen's around.

I don't want you to be right, but I could so see this happening knowing the previous moves he has made.

And I agree with CRF with JA in town (and with his level of power always seemingly unknown) I really doubt this team paying much tribute to Larkin, let alone a position like manager.

Art Howe is a joke. He isnt any different than Miley. Manuel is ok. Valentine, maybe a decent choice, but I think the Reds need someone that the team respects and wants to win for. I dont see that with Miley obviously. I think this team needs a veteran leader and I dont know if anyone like that is out there this side of Davey.
