Name Drop Rumor: Craig Wilson, Eduardo Perez, Shea Hillenbrand, Daryle Ward
STILL SHOPPING - The Reds remain on the lookout for a right-handed hitter to replace Aurilia as Scott Hatteberg's platoon partner at first base.
With Edwin Encarnacion and perhaps David Ross the only returning right-handed hitters with any pop in their bats, decent power-hitting ability might be a nice prerequisite.
"Power's nice," Krivsky acknowledged. "Good situational hitting is nice. Tough outs are nice. There aren't too many perfect players. With power usually comes strikeouts - not necessarily, but usually. We've got a guy in Hatteberg that's a tough out, he's a professional hitter. That right-handed complement, I hope whoever it is can play other positions, too."
Someone who can play right or left field would be ideal, and Craig Wilson fits that mold. Eduardo Perez is another possibility, and Shea Hillenbrand's name has been mentioned.
The Reds previously inquired about first baseman/outfielder Daryle Ward, but he's a left-handed hitter and wouldn't fit the bill for this opening.
