    Reds might target Scott Linebrink

"Cincinnati and San Diego briefly discussed a deal that would send Reds slugger Adam Dunn West but, as of Monday, there was no match. The Reds and several other clubs continue to inquire about Padres reliever Scott Linebrink. San Diego would be interested in versatile Cincinnati outfielder Ryan Freel."

Now this is interesting. Linebrink would solidify our pen. I would definitely trade Freel and someone else for him. But not Dunn. If Dunn is traded, it has to be for SP. But I am on the side of not trading Dunn at all. We can't afford to.

    Freel and who for Linebrink?

Dunn for Linebrick? The fact that this was discussed has lowered my respect for Krivsky so much lower when I didn't even think that was possible. I was talking to a friend today who said that he thought the Reds would or at least should keep Dunn and he said, that could change depending on how much Kriv wants a closer.... ugh.

Hey, I heard the Manny for Linebrink rumors and laughed.

The only difference though is whether or not there is any truth to the rumors.... Theo isn't stupid enough to do it, Wayne K is.

I don't think Dunn for Linebrink has ever been discussed.

Freel for Linebrink, but not Dunn for Linebrink.

Ah, I just assumed with the names Linebrick has been mentioned in connection with, Dunn wouldn't be a stretch. Thanks for the clarification.

No, it seems Krivsky is actually a bigger fan of Dunn than many think.

That's not to say he won't trade him, but not unless he gets a good deal.

I'm not counting on him getting traded.

I can't totally say the same for a couple others on the team though.

Those comments on the ideal offense (strikeouts and the power that come with it be damned, batting average and contact for life) scared the hell out of me. Hopefully you're right. I do think the addition of Jacoby bodes well for us and Dunn in 2007.

Here is another source that indicates the Padres-Reds have somewhat or could discuss the Linebrink/Dunn trade

"The Pirates are not the only team with pitching to spare. The San Diego Padres could be ready to put Scott Linebrink, a top-notch setup guy with closer potential, on the block to attract a power hitter. Reportedly, Cincinnati slugger Adam Dunn is in their sights. "

    see you later Dunn...

God knows we need to trade another young power bat for a reliever. yeah, he is a good reliever, but our offense is a lot more tainted than the bullpen right now. Ugh!

Dunn isn't going to be traded for Linebrink.

Some of these rumors are just getting silly.
