Reds have interest in Gregg Zaun

Gregg Zaun and Bengie Molina shared the catcher's job last season, but both are free agents. The Blue Jays offered Zaun a two-year, $6-million package, but he turned it down and is said to be entertaining offers from the Boston Red Sox and New York Yankees as a backup. The Cincinnati Reds, who have David Ross in line to be their catcher, have also expressed interest.

so we trade LaRue because we had 3 catchers and now we want another one? Zaun is a good offensive catcher it seems but not sure he would want to sign here if he wont start so we'll see on this one.

To be honest, I would start Zaun over Ross. I just don't think Ross will put up the same numbers as last year. But to sign a 3rd catcher again? Maybe Ross or Valentin are on the block?

lol.. well it goes back to what i said before.. you can chalk this up to the Bonderman thing again.. if Ross was what they want to go with Dunn and Phillips.. we would need Zaun to go with Valentin

Good thinking. At least we know that Krivsky may be thinking about a multi-team deal and is not just thinking minor. I sure hope he knows how bad our offense would be if we lost those three though.

BTW Zaun signed a 2 year deal to stay with Toronto. 2 yr deal for $7.25 mil.

Randy Wolf coming back from elbow surgery to go 4-0 with a 5.5 era signed a 1 yr deal for EIGHT MILLION Dollars with the Dodgers. Geez!!

Thanks for the info Slyder. I figured he was out of reach since the Moeller signing.
