Since when is comparing a player to Jack Wilson a good thing?

Gonzalez SS
Griffey CF
EdE 3B
Hatteberg 1B

Alex Gonzalez had his moments on the Sox last year, but you figured that whenever Alex Gonzalez came up with guys in RISP and two outs, you could get a snack and come back with the other team coming up. Kind of like Nomar in his last days in Boston.
It was nice not to have 30 errors at SS though.

This Alex Gonzalez won't make NLCS-losing fielding errors.

That's because the Reds won't be in the NLCS to give him the chance.

You speak so highly of the beloved Reds man. I guess I will determine my judgement when Krivsky is done this offseason. We have a huge disadvantage already though with Narron calling the shots on the field. I am still holding out for hope from Krivsky though. I am hoping he can sign or trade for something of no doubt impact.

I predict Gonzalez will rebound this year. He kind of reminds me of Renteria. He likes the NL and is more comfortable in NL and should have a nice year. I think this is a quality move by the Reds.

except Renteria has always been able to hit. Gonzalez was never known as a hitter even when he played for the Marlins. Thanks for the optimism, but I just can't compare the two.

you know the oddest thing about this deal.. the fact that we are supposed to be moving to a no Strikeout policy.. and yet we sign a guy for 3 years who strikes out just about once ever 5 times he comes to the plate, and almost 4 times as much as he walks..

I feel that Gonzalez's offensive numbers are on the up swing. He seems to be improving a bit. He seems to come up with quite a bit of clutch hits during the course of a season. Maybe, I am just getting old, and my memory isn't as good as it once was. Still, he is a good glove and a good pick-up for a small to medium market. He didn't thrive in the limelight of a big market team. I still say he will be a good fit in your Reds' uniform!
