How to fix the Reds in 6 moves

Here's my totally un-scientific approach to fixing the Reds:

    1) Jimenez on the bench, Freel at 2B.
    2) Aurilia designated for assignment
    3) Wily Mo in the everyday lineup, Kearns traded/benched
    4) Junior in the 5-hole
    5) Casey in the 7-hole
    6) Weathers and Weber designated for assignment, Ricky Stone and Todd Coffey called up

I honestly do not like them overall.

    1) Sounds beautiful
    2) I still would keep Aurilia on the bench
    3) Would be nice to keep Mo in, but not in place of Kearns permanently. There is going to have to be a trade before we can accept any permanent order. So the Kearns trade proposition might work, but not the bench.
    4) Junior batting 5th may be ok especially with Felo possibly batting 2nd.

    5) Casey 7th?

I suppose your lineup would be:

    Freel
    Lopez
    Dunn
    Pena
    Griffey
    Randa
    Casey
    LaRue

    ??

That does not seem so bad and it is interesting enough to possibly work.

I agree with redsrbetter that I like every move except Aurilia. I would keep him on the bench as well. I think hes a decent player if you need him off the bench. But for arguement sake, who would you call up? Lopez, Holbert or even maybe Bergolla??

bergolla is tearing it up down there, but i think they want him to get ab's so they can let d'angelo go next year. Like they should have this year.

Dump Aurilia/Jimenez are the two biggest keys, along with dumping everyone in the bullpen except for Mercker and Wagner.

Bergolla is still raw, I really hope they leave both him and Ed E in AAA for the whole AAA season (call them up in September though.) I really like Bergolla's potential though.

Aurilia could be dumped, but with DJ's large contract, I highly doubt they would waive him. Give his performance and lack of effort from what I see, they should though.

We know the team won't dump him, because they SHOULD.

i think d'angelo would be a good bench player, they just shouldn't have given him that contract. But that's in the past. The reds have to think about it like this: we have devoted 3.5 million dollars to 2b for a starter and a bench player. That's not an unreasonable amount. Freel is the starter because he is by far the better player right now, and DJ is the back up utility guy. Between them they make 3.5 million dollars, and that's it, it doesn't matter who gets it.
