Reds may target Reggie Sanders, Dessens and Lohse

"Reds will try and aquire Reggie Sanders and or Elmer Dessens from the Royals for the stretch run.....Reggie will add some right handed pop and be their experienced bat off the bench and maybe start a day or two a week.
The Reds will also pursue Twins pitcher Kyle Loshe."

Wow, three bad ideas packed into one paragraph.

Lohse is awful, Dessens is mediocre at best, Sanders is old but could probably be a nice bat off the bench. As long as the price tag isn't too high on those guys I guess they are worth a shot.

Reggie... eh he's better than Wise/McCrackin/(Insert other jokes for 5th OF).

We just traded Felipe might as well bring back the guy we gave up for Felipe in the first place. Plus he could always spot start. I dunno how much of an upgrade he would be though. If its a PTBNL and we end up sending some 25 yr old guy ya sure. Plus both would know their way with the clubhouse as many of these currents reds were teammates with them before (Dessens 2002 Sanders 98). Granted a lot has changed especially since Yearly October Reggie left.

Lohse? Ill pass we already got one Twin reject in Mays.

I wouldn't mind Reggie. I wouldn't want the other two.

And I only want Reggie if he comes in off the bench.

I think his 9 HR could be helpful and he would only seem to benefit from being a part of the Reds' offense and hitting at GABP half the time. Since HR are his strong suit these days, it could be a decent fit for him.

I have faith in Krivsky doing this right. I know I'm one of it not the only one n the board who likes him as GM, but I think he knows what he's doing.

Sanders will just take away playing time from Freel and Denorfia, we do not need him especially at the cost of a prospect in which we would surely overpay with. Dessens, Lohse.... 'scuse me while I throw up.

If used properly(as a PH only) I think adding Sanders wouldn't be a bad signing as long as it wasn't a good prospect being added. Narron being our manager makes me less excited to add him than I would be though, because we KNOW he plays the game the right way more so than Freel and probably more so than Denorfia due to his age advantage.

The one good thing about Dessens(despite his 4.86 ERA) is that his BABIP is around .341 on the year, which shows he has been very hit unlucky in terms of the ERA and 1.50 WHIP.

Reggie's way too expensive to be acquiring as a backup.

If Dessens was a FA or a waiver pickup, I'd have no problem with it. But paying something, anything for him, is just not worth it I don't think.

I have a feeling the Royals would eat some if not most of his salary. I wouldn't do the deal otherwise.

And I really don't think money is a big problem for Castellini to begin with.

like stated Sanders would be a great pick up to replace Wise.. if used as we are using Wise.. but not everyday and not to take time away from Freel and Deno

and both Dessens and Lohse i really wouldn't want them unless it costed us absolutely nothing

Take Lohse please!!! Just give me an outfielder that can hit and play above average defense! Hell I will add Silva as well. Twins for sure need Lohse out of town. Silva still questioning.

Pass on Lohse. We got enough Twins rejects as it is, If you include Baker then were talking. .

McKain is absolutely right. You put Reggie in a better lineup and his numbers will go up.
