Toronto grabs Dan O'Brien, GM, Western Michigan U.

I think the position is off, but the rest is right.

I've seen a lot angry over the Stubbs pick, but I'm really not.

Krivsky has said he wants to take the best player available and obviously he thought Stubbs fit the team's needs best at the time. From what I can tell, he plays great defense and we all know Krivsky is a big defensive guy.

His draft strategy actually reminds me a lot of Marvin Lewis'. Obviously football is a different animal, but I see a number of parallels. I'm willing to have faith in him here.

You can never have too much of a good thing I guess.
Another thing to consider is that Krivsky might be trying to think ahead(not saying whether that's good or bad at this point) to possibly grooming some more players on offense and eventually trading them down the road for pitching(if they develop well, obviously). Although the new ownership and Krivsky have both said how important the draft is, Castellini has consistently seemed like a no-nonsense, win ASAP type guy.

The team might feel more comfortable trading some of our offensive players on the Reds right now if they feel they have viable future options. And of course our MLB offensive players are going to bring us more immediate results. It sounds like a "win now and build for the future" type strategy to me.

Drafting for need in baseball is incredibly stupid. Our system SUCKS, we needed everything, taking BPA is fine.
