    An Idea

I heard on ESPN Sunday Night Baseball that the Angels have Colon coming back soon and that they will then have 6 starters and would be looking at possibly trading one of them (Most likely Ervin Santana) to get a person to help the lineup. My idea was maybe a deal built around Austin Kearns for Ervin Santana. Just thought I'd see what the rest thought.

Ervin Santana is an intriguing pitcher for sure. he is definitely that young caliber pitcher we would be looking for. But I don't think I would want to trade Kearns right now. Kearns is just now showing who he would have been all along if he didn't hold himself back or get held back as many times as he did the last few years.

Does anyone know anything more about Santana that makes him better than I think. I know he was one of the Angels top rated pitching spects last year and has done decent for a young pitcher in the MLB this year. But is he the answer? I think if we try and make a trade before the deadline for any pitching it would have to be for that ace.

Kearns can be a great Player if he stays healthy. I would not trade him if I were the Reds.

I don't think they'd move Santana, with Jeff Weaver being such a liability.

I think the Angels are going to want to keep Santana as he has good stuff Plus he is only 23 and makes nothing. Weaver is most likely the odd man out.

Jeff Weaver sucks, is ugly, is worse than his younger brother, and can't grow facial hair worth a damn.

Ervin Santana is a sexy young kid with good velocity and tons of talent.

Miller and Morgan are just n that stupid mindset of "Well why trade the old veteran guy who knows how to get it done when you have the young unproven guy there!!!" without realizing that Ervin is good and Jeff is shit.

Thank you for the GQ report.
So is John Lackey sexy, or ugly?

Well My thought process was that with Kearns moved for Santana...

    Ca- Valentin/LaRue/Ross
    1b- Hatteburg/Aurilia
    2b- Phillips
    SS- Lopez
    3b- Ed E
    LF- Dunn
    CF- Griffey/Freel
    RF- Freel/Denorfia

So you might lose a bit of offense but it would let us move either Claussen or Ramirez to the pen get rid of White.

    SP (in no particular order):
    1 Aaron Harang
    2 Bronson Arroyo
    3 Ervin Santana
    4 Eric Milton
    5 Elizardo Ramirez/Brandon Claussen.

THat would solidify possibly our biggest problem coming into this year plus besides Milton none of the guys in the rotation would be over 27. Then when Homer Bailey is ready.... Again no basis on rumor or anything, just an idea that crept into my mind while watching Sunday Night Baseball.

IF it comes down to them wanting to get good value for help down the stretch they might have to though. Again just an idea since Kearns is what 25 now?

I think it is definitely a good idea and a great thought. But I wouldn't do it if I were Krivsky.

Would you guys move Freel and LaRue for a pitcher like Santana though? Freel is very marketable and very cheap and an do it all. LaRue is a great catcher if he can get regular ABs again. Would you guys make this move?

No chance in hell the Angels deal Ervin Santana and especially not for Kearns lol.

I see three pitchers that they are shopping around right now. Jeff Weaver (Big Contract, Overrated), Kelvim Escobar (Last Year On Contract), and John Lackey.

Lackey is one of their best pitchers and signed a deal before the season started! He's now 4-3 with a 3.06 ERA and hasn't yielded more than four runs in any outing this season.

I would in a heart beat as Cincy GM. I wouldnt if I were Anaheim you draw the line with at least Kearns, Lopez, Dunn, Ed E, Homer, or maybe even Phillips (depending on what the scouting dept said) for a 23 yr old stud pitcher.
