The reports of the Reds having offensive and pitching talent have been greatly exaggerated. I don't think its Miley's fault... I just don't think this team is very good. They are .500 at best.

Yes it Miley's fault. He is costing the Reds a lot of runs by batting Dunn/Pena so low, and Griff/Casey so high. And playing DJ over Freel. And even Aurilia over Lopez.Originally Posted by redsfan28
Uh, Dunn is no more than a 4-hole hitter. He K's too much to hit higher. The same can be said for Pena. Lopez has proven that he cannot field OR hit. Casey and Griffey are hitting as high as they are because there really isn't another place to put them. The only argument I agree with is Freel should be playing more than Jimenez. You can't blame Miley for lack of offensive talent. He isn't out there swinging. Blame Chambliss.

Dunn is hitting well.
Lopez is hitting better than Aurilia.
Griffey should not be batting second.
Casey seems to be coming around a little bit, but I want him a bit lower for now.
Batting Griffey second is just hurting him and the team though.
The Simpson family gathers around, as Homer places Bart's passed test on the fridge.)
Homer: We're proud of you, boy.
Bart: Thanks, Dad. But part of this D-minus belongs to God.
K's aren't that much worse than any other out, other than it doesn't have the potential to be a productive out like a ground out or a fly out. I think that makes Dunn more of an ideal hitter for high in the order (not even #4 where a sac fly or ground out to the right can score a run, but he's a fine cleanup hitter), where he doesn't have to worry as much about driving a guy in, just doing his job. His high OBP could give players a guy to drive in and very impressive power could protect guys such as Griffey, Casey, Pena, and Kearns behind him.
Dunn's a good enough hitter to be placed anywhere from 2-5 in the order IMO.
