Based on my last thread, this seems like a logical follow-up, one that I was surprised to need to do.

Yeah, and I would bring in someone of Krivsky's choosing. Who that is I'm not sure at this point.
I don't like him as a manager though.

If I fired him, Lou would be my man. I'm torn of giving him the boot, but Lou is just so much better.
If you fire him right now at 23-16 (well beyond what most thought preseason) it HAS to be for a big name manager like Lou. This team is in 2nd place (with Narron at the helm/inspite of the manager), you go and hire someone without a track record of winning you look like an idiot.

again, i will state, this is madness. apparently reds fans are crazy, and have no idea how to handle winning. it's like we're all so used to talking about firing our manager at this time of the year, that we're going ahead with it anyway without consulting reality.
Well WAKE UP!

It could be, much like it was early in the seasons where Bob Boone was manager, that the team is winning IN SPITE of Narron.
Narron is a garbage manager, plain and simple. If we could get Lou Piniella or someone else of his caliber, wouldn't you try anything you could to get him?
The fact that you refuse to see that Narron is a poor manager that should be replaced if there was an opportunity just shows me that you aren't in tune with the problems with this team.

I'm with redsfan28 on this one. They are winning in spite of him. He continues to prove he's an idiot. He waits too long to give pitchers the hook most of the time and his understanding of how to produce Runs is not that good.

Whether or not I am a fan of Narron (by my posts, my feelings should be clear), it's just not going to happen. We're a traditional team, in a traditional town. If we're in the Wild Card lead by the ASG, writers here will start talking about Narron as the coach of the year. If you win in a town like this, the manager automatically gets credit as a god like figure. So unless we bomb big-time, I think we're stuck with Narron for awhile. But if we keep winning, or even playing .500 ball, Narron will stay.
And I thought Lou wasn't interested in managing this season? Has he changed his mind? Just curious.
I think RCast could persuade Lou into returning if the situation warranted.

I posted this in the "Fill in the Blank" thread, but I thought I'd share some interesting facts in this thread as well.

how can you say that they're winning in spite of him. In case you haven't been paying attention, we haven't had a winning season in FIVE YEARS.
most people predicted that we would finish last this year, so on what grounds can you claim that the reds are a magnificent team that narron is holding back? Lets see... been bad for years, made marginal aquisitions which were roundly questioned in the offseason, picked to finsih last... yep sounds like a team destined for greatness to me. If they lose a single game it's the managers fault for sure.
my point is that the people calling for narron's head are basing it on things like not pulling pitchers soon enough, which every fan in every town complains about. it's just fan talk. None of us have any idea what goes on in the clubhouse day to day, but from everything i've read, Narron is well liked, and well respected as a good leader.
He has the reds winning, he has the reds happy, and he's done a masterful job juggling lots of players and keeping everyone content for the most part. He was given a tough job by krivsky this yearand done really well with it in my opinion. doesn't anyone remember last year? It was madness and miley couldn't do anything about it, if you'll remember, he was "only one man."
i have no idea what those stats above are supposed to prove, but if they prove it to you, so be it. Call for him to be fired on your conspiracy theories if that's what being a fan is to you. I don't really care, since he's obviously not going to be fired while he has what was supposed to be a last place team in the lead for the wild card. And if the reds make the playoffs, he should get manager of the year.

I agree that I'm surprised there is a contingency to fire Narron, but then again, I don't like him myself... I just don't know if I would fire him.

This is ridiculous. If the team is under .500 then you can start talking about firing him....he's done a very good job so far this year.
His career track record speaks for itself. He has been awful at every stop.
I would fire him simply because he doesn't understand how offenses produce the most Runs.
This isn't the first season over the last several that we've started hot only to collapse.
Nothing in Narron's profile would indicate anything is likely to be any different this year.
I think we are where we are now more because of Krivsky's moves than Narron's managing. Arroyo has been what he's been and Phillips started very hot and was making significant contributions early on.

I don't think I've ever seen someone handle a bullpen worse than Narron and he plays favorites with shitty players way too much and screws up lineups.
