Milty gets my MVP. I expected him to be much better this year, but he's been awesome his first two starts. 6.2 IP, 6 H, 2 ER, 2 BB, 5 K, 1 HR on 98 pitches is very impressive, especially considering he had 25 pitches in the first inning. And he got it done with the bat with the triple.
Oh, and Bum of the Game goes to Aurilia. He still can't hit outside of GAB.

Good game today for the Reds. Its good to get the series win against the Cubs since they just swept the Cards. Hopefully we can take some momentum into St Louis and steal a couple from the Cards. Milton has to be the MVP of the game. He has pitched very well this season. Almost to the way he used to(even though the velocity isnt there yet). If he can pitch like this the rest of the season, with Arroyo and Harang, this team can really win some games. Of course the bullpen is another story, but I dont believe it is as bad as it has been. But, I am not saying its great either.
I am honestly at the point where I think we need to call up Wagner and Shackelford. Then make a trade for one more reliever to get White, Hammond, and Burns off this team. This could be a nice upgrade for a team that is in 1st place.
We are off to a great start because of our offense and our SP have kept us in games. Yet our bullpen has made them all closer than they should be.
Is this the real Eric Milton?

CHICAGO - Eric Milton wasn't giving in. Neither was Juan Pierre.
Pierre, the Chicago Cubs' pesky leadoff man, fouled off four pitches with the count full.
He finally lined out to Felipe Lopez.
"I didn't think he was going to go away," Milton said. "It was a huge out. After 10 pitches to get that first out, it was probably the biggest out of the game."
Milton went on to pitch 62/3 very strong innings, and the Reds beat the Cubs 8-3 before a crowd of 40,881 at Wrigley Field Thursday in the deciding game of a three-game series.
Milton, the fans' favorite whipping boy of last year, is 2-0 with a 2.63 ERA after two starts. Thursday, he allowed three runs (two earned) on six hits. He walked two and struck out five.
No one player is more important to the Reds than Milton. He went 8-15 in 2005 with a club-record 6.47 ERA and gave up a club-record 40 home runs. If he isn't a lot better than that, the Reds aren't going to contend.
Milton has strung together two good starts to begin the season. That didn't happen last year.
The Cubs reached Milton for one home run Thursday on a day when the wind was blowing out. The Reds hit three homers, including two off Chicago ace Carlos Zambrano.
Milton said he ignored the wind.
"I'm just trying to do my job," he said. "Once you get on the mound and the game starts, you're not thinking about the wind. You try to focus on the hitter."
By the time Milton gave up a run, he was working with a 4-0 lead - thanks to Adam Dunn's solo home run in the first and Lopez's three-run homer in the fourth.
After the Cubs got back in it at 5-3, Austin Kearns hit a three-run shot to put the game away.
Milton is following a simple plan: Keep the ball down and change speeds.
"We're trying to stay away from the high fastball," pitching coach Tom Hume said. "All our guys have been concentrating on that since spring. If you miss, miss down."
Milton has been saying all along that his offseason leg strengthening regimen would yield results.
"Today was good. Today was better than the first time out," he said. "I feel like I'm just getting stronger."
I am very happy with Milton to say the least. His legs are back and something has happened to this rotation to keep them more focused. Notice the drop in BB and the drop in HR allowed so far. Milton has become a very big part of this rotation and I am not quite sure I would want to get rid of him now.
